Miles left to drive
When I picked up my tl at the dealer with a full tank, the miles left to drive said 327 miles. Well I barely drove 150 miles and the fuel gauge was on less then a quarter. I filled up the car for the first time, and the miles to drive was only around 200 miles whether standing or moving. What happened to the other 127 miles difference with the two fillups. Could something be wrong. I drove about 40 miles today and it went from full to less then 3/4 tank.?????

I don't know what kind of driving you are doing, but what you describe is definitely not normal. It shouldn't go down that fast, and when you fill it up it should show more miles remaining than you are saying.
Here is my little blurb about what's going on with the fuel gage so you will be able to judge better. You should be able to take the average mpg displayed in the MID and multiply that by the approximate amount of fuel in the tank to give you the miles remaining.
This info is excerpted from a very long thread I started about fuel tank capacities, etc. and is based on actual and precise testing
a. When the low fuel warning light comes on, if you are getting 25 mpg you can go 94 miles, but if you are only getting 20 mpg, you can only go 74 miles. Of course, other miles per gallon figures will result in different results. This means you have approximately 3.7 gallons remaining.
b. When “miles to empty” (2004TL) or “range” (2005TL) reads zero, that is time to fill up, but you can still go 57 miles at 25mpg, but only 45 miles at 20mpg. This means you have approximately 2.3 gallons remaining.
c. When filling the tank, if you stop at the first shutoff, you will have about 17 gallons in the tank.
d. The tank will actually hold about 19 gallons, but it is not recommended to fill the tank to capacity, so stop at the first shutoff.

Keep Right Except to Pass
To emphasize the gist of Ron's first point, bear in mind that the "Miles to Empty" is estimated based on what sort of fuel economy you've been getting. It is not at all unusual for the "Miles to Empty" reading to INCREASE if, say, you've been doing all city driving and then you get on the highway. Conversely, it is also not unusual for it to DECREASE suddenly if you've been on the highway and then you start doing city driving, or if you get stuck in a traffic jam.
Bottom line--use common sense and don't rely on the display to tell you when to fill up.

ive got an 08 5AT with 33000 miles.... how do i get to this "miles to go" indicator?
i usually reset my trip odometer at every fillup so that when my gas light comes on i can see how many miles I got to the tank. Its usually in the range 220-240, mostly city driving with 35-50mph speed limits with lots of traffic lights here in northern virginia
edit: wow, holy bumpage riicky, lol

i was going to ask the same question...everytime we fill up, it usually says "<365 miles" or somewhere in the 300's...then yesterday, it was at "<232" and after driving down a long road for about 15 miles, it slowly went back up to around 272...i dont know if somethings wrong or if this just happens sometimes but i thought it was wierd

I second Ron A. Since I've had my new tranny put in, I've been keeping my eyes on my MPG and "Miles to Go". The latter is at best, an estimate based upon your current driving style, speed and the MPG's you're currently getting.
I'll leave it set to that while driving for a few days to monitor how much it fluctuates, and it's usually not as dramatic as you mention but depending on the aforementioned factors, it definitely could fluctuate frequently.
