MID & Oil Life

Is there a way of changing the MID to the number of mile you want it to count down from once oil is changed. When my MID is displaying 10% oil life seen more or less close to 3500-4000 miles. I saw a post here that few member change their oil every 7500 miles.

The MID does not utilize a "count down" of sorts nor does it analyze your oil to determine the remaining "oil life". It inputs your driving habits (stop and gos, throttle, resulting air/fuel ratio, etc) into an algorithim which directly correlates to oil life and basically displays the percentage per the resulting output. That is how GMs MID works, and I imagine its identical fof us too.

Follow the MID, cuz its judging the life by your driving patterns (habits is a poor word of choice, sorry)

If it helps any... I have driven ~1500 miles on my Mobil 1 oil, and the MID shows 60%. <---A LOT of stop and go. In fact, its all stop and go lmao. All local, short distances, lots of warm of time, so its pretty "severe duty". And, me likey to mash the gas once in a while....

Hope this helps...

I don't think there is a way to do this although the very knowledgable members of this forum may have found a way to hack it. In any event, my 08 TL is still too new to know when the MID will say my first oil change will be needed, but in my 04 it used to reach the 10% mark at about 5500 miles. The manual recommends oil changes go by the MID percentage or at least once a year, whichever comes first.
