mid message?
mid message?
Hi all.
Confused on an mid message, and I cant find(but I am sure its there) a message.
I am getting one message, thats for service with the wrench and the letter A, which I assume means an A service.
But on another screen, I get what looks like an envelope(sort of like a email envelope) and the number one(1) next to it.
Anyone can tell me, where in the manual it shows this icon, of if not, what does it mean? 2005, auto, nav.
Thanks to all.

I though that would be it, but went to check in manual. Do you know if they mention it in manual, or they assume you would know that?
Thanks

Where is the other display with the envelope in it?
I have looked through the service manual and the owner's manual and can't find anything about it, but it may have something to do with navi, and since I don't have navi I wouldn't find it in my owner's manual.
As far as I can tell, you should only get the wrench symbol for maintenance reminder items, so the envelope symbol might indicate something else.
You don't have email in your car do you? just kidding but you never know these days.

The display is on the same place where I have a message for the a service due. When I hit the rocker switch to next screen, it is there. An email envelope, with the number 1.
I just reread the manual for the third time(and learning something new each time), and no mention of it.
I am going to take a photo of it also and post it, with my scratch and ding, if that is alright with you. Plus I think I will call acura up tomorrow and ask them also.
Thanks, and much regards Flatfoot

That obviously signifies a mail bomb, so don't start your car, give it to me to start and I will test, if it works, I will give it back, I promise.
I believe I heard somewhere that it is a blutooth phone message, after all we don't have acuralink.

I just had my A1 service performed a week or so ago. When the car was turned over, the wrench with service due message appeared in the MID. If I toggled the MID away from the wrench message, the envelope icon appeared in the MID. I believe it is a redundant reminder that you have a service alert. After the MID was reset at the service call, both messages / icons were cleared from the MID.

it not A1...if it was A1 then it would come as A1 service due...
Hope this helps.

ONE MORE QUESTION
Its telling me just an A service, not an a1. And in the manual it says oil change. Do I assume they will change the filter also, or I shouldnt assume anything.

don't assume anything.......but also don't let them offer you unnecessary things...they can point out suckers that walk through the door by talking to them for a few minutes and based on their knowledge they can really get them to buy more stuff...they will offer to check things and such and over charge you..so watch out

where I have been bringing my cars for the last ten years, since I got my license.
When I go in for just an oil change, I always see the mechanic, while the oil is draining , take his light, and check the entire underside of the car, for any problems. (He is not looking for rip off business), just doing a safety check. And once in a while they spot something that is meaningfull and tell me, that this thing is eventually going to go in a year or so, so keep it in mind. Or you have a slight leak here, and keep an eye on it.
And they always check all my motor fluids, as well as air pressure(spare tire, if I ask them also). There has never been a charge for that. I guess service is sometimes still existant in a service station.
While, I wouldnt really want them touching my tl, I have no problem letting them touch my older cars, where greasy finger prints are no problem if you know what I mean. And oil soaked shoes find their way onto your car carpeting sometimes.
But, I know they are honest, because so often I have come to them with a problem, I thought would be major, and I wind up with a ten buck repair, or nothing at all, and I am on my way.
Yes, I know about service centers and their ripoffs. I appreciate the advice. Like I said when my other car was new, and I brought it in for service, they would give you a menu book, like a chinese menu, to pick what kind of service you wanted. They tried to make you think your car would fall apart, without the extras.
I always took, only what I thought I needed, usually not much more then the minimum.
Much regards flatfoot
Flatfoot,
these guys are right. The envelope is a message to remind you that you have maintenance due. I had this happen before and couldn't use my bluetooth while it was there. My phone wouldn't connect until I reseted the MID.

And it sounds like they're decent on top of it! Personally, I'd take my TL there...sounds like a good place...wish there was one around here like that.
