How about problems with the nav system or radio reception?

I know this was discussed a few months back, but I'd like to hear from new members or those who finally got their cars. I've been holding off on the tint since I'm having a hard time finding ceramic tint (e.g. formula one pinnacle) in my area. I'm reluctant to go with a dyed tint because I've had it turn purple eventually -- no matter what the warranty said. If folks with metallic tint an nav could indicate the impact to nav and radio reception as well as the brand/model of tint they have, I'd appreciate it. BTW, the antenna seems pretty weak to begin with -- radio reception was much better in my other cars.

I have heard that Metallized tints will effect the Navi system and AM Radio reception. I have heard that here on this forum as well as talking with local tinters. It seems that Ceramic based tints have been introduced for Automobiles for this very reason. The Ceramic films are supposed to provide the performance of Metallic films but will not cause problems with Nav systems or AM Reception. However, the Ceramic films are pretty pricey. I plan on going with the Ceramic tint on my car which is NAVI equipped.

i had llumar ATR (metallic) put on my rear window and completely lost my AM radio reception. The tinter replaced it with llumar AT (non-metallic) and it works great. AT is considered a downgrade from ATR, but carries the same lifetime warranty, so no worries.

I have to say I have had the metallic tint since August and never noticed a problem with phone or navi. I didn't even know it was an issue until I read a thread a few weeks ago.

I have a half dye, half metallic tint and it does effect my navi from time to time. Every so often the navi will have me anywhere from a few dozen yards to a few miles away from where I actually am. If I correct the problem with the vehicle position tool, the gps finds me, but it's a hassle.

My car is NBP and the half metallic looks a little grey under certain light conditions and I don't really like the way that looks. Do the ceramic tints have the same greyish color? If not what color are they? I want black tint. No grey, no silver, no bronze, just black.

My friends told me that it was reallly difficult to remove tint completely without any glue or residue leftover. Is this true? I'm thinking of having the tint place remove all my tints and replace them with non-metallic, black tints.

My AM, FM, and XM reception are fine. Why would they suffer from metallic tint? Isn't the XM antenna on the roof?

Yeah, I read that.

For those in California, I've heard that you can hear KNBR 680 all the way south to the grapevine before you get to LA. Is this true? If it is, then the tint did effect my AM reception. I couldn't hear the Giants' and bums' game until I was to Coalinga.
