Mega Bright Dash Lights, But ...

Is there a possibility that the rheostat managing the dash lights for a 2006 TL could be mis-gaged?

The high setting on the dash lights are beyond anything usable at night. And the dimmer will not take the dash light to anywhere near 'off'.

Thanks,
Bill

turn the headlights on, push the arrow like 20 times until it is very dim, then turn off the lights and push up until you are one away from max. Then go to your navi (if you have one) and go to setup. Put the screen on auto.

There isn't a rheostat. The dimming of the dash lights (all LEDs, btw) is controlled with a solid state amplifier. There is nothing wrong with that; your dash light control is working fine. Just be careful because if you push the "max" button, even with the headlights on, you really will get "max" light and it's painfully bright. Pushing the left button (to lower the intensity) takes it out of the "max" mode.

By any chance, have you recently had laser eye surgery?

I use the left arrow button to dim the display at night, almost as low as it goes. I would have to do that every evening which was a pain in the ass because I would hit the Max button during the day to bring them back up. But . . . . Guess what I found out? If you hit the max button again it returns the brightness back to whatever level you set before. It toggles them back and forth so I don't have to hit the < button 20 times every evening.
