I have to say your right, I had a '03 Altima (4 banger). Last summer I wanted some more fun to drive. I didn't like the '05 Max, so I went with a '03 Max 6spd. Drove it for about a month, that thing MOVED.

I had to get rid of it though, the nerve damage in my left leg just wouldn't let me keep it. Off I went to the Acura Dealer.

You must be referring to the 6G 'cause I have had my 02 Maxima for over 4 years and it has yet to develop a rattle (not to mention any drooping headliner )

Yea I meant 6th gen Maxima. I had 4th and a 5th gen maxima both great cars.

At least the headliner issue was fixed after 04. LOL. But then again a headliner issue isn't as bad as a faulty trannys in the 00-01 maximas.

I have a Early made 95 5-speed maxima. My brother has an 04 automatic TL. Hands down He has more low end, I have more mid-high end. Yes you guys have vtec, But I have a variable intake set to open up at 5100 rpms and run it hard till 7200. As far as a 3.5 VQ engine is concerned it def has more low end, but on the top end its not as great as the 3.2 Vtec. 3G TL is fairly new, but the engine has def changed from previous 3.2 honda engines. The headers part of it is a down fall. The car from factory is over restricted when it comes to exhaust flow. Not saying that a Stock maxima isnt any better but how hard does your cars pull after 100mph?

Main thing is im not picking sides. My next car will be a 04-05 6mt TL. No doubt about it. Hands down it has a better interior than a 5.5 gen. I honestly feel like both look great on the outside. As for the door panels falling off? never heard of such a thing. Almost all of nissan door panels are held in by screws with plastic tabs. Unless someone was there in there before that shouldn't occur.

Anyway Here's a link to my car:

Well I was referring to the 5.5 gen as well as I donot like the 6th gen at all, the 6.5 gen is ok although.

I hear you and . The 04-06 Maxima felt WAYYY to cheap for a low-mid $30k car.

Also, with Monte and Calgary. The 6.5G Maxima has a much needed interior upgrade (just about worthy of its MSRP) but Nissan should have at least made the 6MT an option.

I personally don't like the CVT on the new Maxima either. The thing is gonna blow up man. I know from owners of the Murano that the gas mileage sucks because of the CVT.

All I've got to say is try taking corners with a maxima. I've done so with my fiance's old 2000 Max and it was not very good. It was scary even!

I have 5.5 gen and 4 gen Max (both GLE) and the interiors are quite good, though still not as good as the new TL, but much better than the 6 gen Max. The Max is great for straight line race because of its excellent engine. The suspension, however, is mediocre, at best. So, forget about running the Max thru the twisties, even with the SE. The TL hugs the road better, but still not as good as RWD cars. The TL gets my vote for a better balanced car with lots of tech gizmos, if that is what you like

Last night, I got into it with a new VW GTI and pretty much held him off on a straightaway but he was all over me when the road curved sharply. I thought my Maxima was going to flip over. (I slowed up, let him pass me and gave him a thumbs up.) As I have said before, I am certain my Murano can outhandle my Maxima.

This is only my opinion, but I think the Maxima handles better than my 04 TL. Only reason I say this is because a friend of mine had his car wrecked 2 weeks ago, and has an 06 Maxima as a rental car. It's the SE w/ cloth...base model. Of course with it being a rental car, we "test the limits" of it. I've been having all 4 tires howl at me while going through turns as fast as I could. I try to most compare it to the off ramp I take to go home every single day. In my 350Z, I could take it at about 80. In my Infiniti FX35 I could take it at about 55mph...and now my TL its about 55-60mph and thats really pushing it. When I drove the Maxima, I took it at about 65 and I certainly could have been going faster. I don't know if its because I beat the hell out of the Maxima because its not mine, but in my opinion I think the Maxima handles and sticks better than my TL. Like I said, I work at a Nissan dealership and drive the Maxima every day, and own a TL. I'm not partial to either party.

LOL sorry but there is no way a Maxima will out handle a TL. Tires have a lot to do with it and he might have had better tires.

I went from an 02 Maxima SE (with 6 speed) to the 06 TL (also MT).

The Maxima was noticeably quicker in day to day, straight-line acceleration. But I'm finding the TL to have much better acceleration turning into traffic. That is probably a combination of better suspension and the anti-torque steer thingy.

I have not driven the 6G Maxima yet so, I do not know how well it handles. But I have driven the Altima SE-R a couple of times and do know that its handling is superior to my 5.5G Maxima. As the 6G's suspension is based on the Altima, I have no doubt about the 6G's handling prowess.

Well, I don't know the specifics, like I said..that was just my personal opinion. I just feel like my TL want's to 'let go' going through a turn and doesn't stick as well as other cars I've driven.

Is yours MT or AT? My 6spd feels fairly flat for a stock suspension through sweepers and the like.

As far as "let go," that sounds like tires but we could have a different meaning of let go.
