Major Tune Up and Maintenance

To start off, I bought an 2004 TL with 67,000 miles on it a month ago. Since I don't know the previous owner, I don't know whats been worked on before. I would just assume the car was driven in the worst environment, so just to be safe, I want to do every recommended maintenance you can possibly do on the TL between 60k and 100k miles. Ive found a few on these forums. I just don't want to miss anything. Please feel free to let me know if I've missed something. Your input is appreciated.

Things I can do later or have done already:
Engine Oil/Filter
Balance/Rotation/Alignment
Cabin Air filter.
Transmission Fluid
Type S taillight
A-Spec Body kit. jk i know its not maintenance but w/e

Need to do at a shop:
Bleed brakes
Bleed Power Steering
Adjust valves?
Replace:
Spark Plug
Timing Belt
Water Pump
Fuel Filter
Clean:
Throttle Body
Fuel System

Also, the book says to use Honda ATF-Z1. Is there something else I can use from the local autoparts store or do i have to buy the fluid from a dealer?

Thanks.

Well it looks like you got a lot of work to do. Some may not be necessary right now such as timing belt and water pump, this is done close to 105k service.

You can seafoam your car yourself if you want. Make sure you take it in to get all the recalls done.
Everybody has recommoneded just to stay with the atf-z1 and not use anything else. I personally haven't done mine yet but it is in the books for the next thing to do.

if you can do transmission fluid, you can replaces brakes if needed, replace /bleed brake fluid with someone, power steering ( VERY EASY), and spark plugs. theres another thread where some acura dealership wanted to charge 230 for just replacing plugs. better for you to do yourself. agree with ^^ to seafoam yourself. 7 bucks a can, buy 2. 1/2 into gas, 1/2 into intake mani, and i forget how much into oil 1/2 hour b4 oil change or 1-2 days for deep cleanse. than again for gas and intake at 2000 miles. from then on once a year.

for tranny i did honda ATF. everyone says amsoil but i'd stick to all honda fluid. Power steering is HONDA/ACURA only accord ing to manual.

also check your air intake filter not just your cabin.

Hmm ok sounds like I didn't miss anything except the intake air filter. Thanks for the advice. I happen to have a can of seafoam lying around from last summer.

If you decide to do your timing belt and water pump go to a honda dealer rather than an acura one to save money.

Hey, hope you don't mind OP, but how in the world do you change the PS fluid? I heard dealerships have a special machine that sucks and flush the old fluid out and put new fluid in.

Its easy to change the ps. place cardboard under tires or raise front tires Suck up from res. as much as you can then remove lower left hose from res. add a tube and put it in a empty bottle turn car on turn steering wheel left and right fully until fluid is not flowing then refill.did this two weeks ago. And its fine to run car without fluid since tires are not on ground or on cardboard to reduce friction opf tires.

remember to only use acura fluid. i bought mine from curry acura in ny for 2.96 a bottle. buy 3 to get it to the top. you'll have some left over rather than needed another and having to run to Acura to get it.

I won't be able to do the timing belts, water pump and valve adjustments (if i need it) until I get my Lex back from the shop.

But as of now, my transmission is shifting much better after only draining it once. Doing it again tmrw and then off to Powersteering and brakes.
