Maintenance questions

I got a A1 message, I checked and says oil change and tire rotation. If I change the oil myself, will the car know and get rid of the A1 message? I'm at 81,000 miles now. What size oil filter do I need?

I also tried to find a maintenance spreadsheet but I could not locate it(Got the car used). Like in my last car I had a spread sheet of what I should be replacing/inspecting once I hit a certain mileage. Is there one I can find online?

Thanks in advance.

Doing your own oil change will be no problem. The car doesn't know the difference at all. For oil filters, I don't know what size, but if you're buying your own, the S2K filter is highly recommended, as the stock TL filter isn't up to par on quality.

As for the A1 message on your MID, there is a way to do it. I don't remember the exact method, but I did it for my last oil change, which I did myself. It's in your owner's manual, however. If you don't have it, someone will chime in with the method shortly, I'm sure.

Bring up the message on your display, and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. It will then say hit reset again for OK (to reset) - or any other button to cancel.

Well He may have been keeping up with his maintenance, I'm sure it has a loop in which the MID follows.

But considering that he joined in Nov. 07, He probably is at 8,100 like Stillhere153 says

I believe the filtered is located behind the passenger-side wheel. Is it accessible from under the car, or is it best to physically remove the wheel to do the oil filter change?

Go to your local Acura dealer and ask them how to log onto Acura Owner Link (on Internet). It's a free service from Acura and worthwhile. You can log in all your maintenance there. It also has owners manuals, recall notice history, and all the data about your car. Just put in the serial # and all the data pops up. Real nice.

Well the maintenance information has to be inputted manually. It does not automatically appear on there. But its great for recall notices.

Here's a link to Owners Manuals. It'll give you periodic Maint Information in the Maint section.

https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...01_OMANUAL.asp

Many suitable filters from various manufacturers - Mobil1, K&N, HAMP, Honda/Acura.

The TL filter changed from a PLM-A01 part number to a PLM-A02 part number. When that occured some fitment recommendations changed as well (Mobil1 for example).

There is much discussion on whether the current PLM-A02 is a "quality" filter. I guess you have to assume it is "suitable". Search those (partial) part numbers as well as PCX-004 (S2K filter) and form you own opinion.

It's not an issue to get from underneath. I change the oil all the time until winter - than I have my trusted mechanic change it for me.

Just turn your wheels full "right" when you shut it off. It's actually just inside the wheel.
Piece of cake

Haha yeah. I was going to change the oil myself, but since it was too cold I just went to my friends shop.

To get rid of the A1 message, I held down the reset button for like 10 sec.

@GLowrdr and S PAW 1 - thanks for the advice. I'll crank the wheel to the right and check it out when the time comes.
