Luck finally ran out... rear ended by Ford F-150

Well this weekend at a stop light i got rear ended by a ford f-150. It was quite a hit and messed up his metal bumper but the only damage that i can see on my TL is the bumper cover and now the trunk doesnt freely open. The gap between the trunk and the lights is not even anymore. No damage to the quarter panels so i am thankfull for that. Had my sister my wife and my two daughters in the car and every was ok. The guy basically wasnt paying attention and started moving while the rest of the traffic was stopped and used my car as a brake. waiting for the adjuster to call me so i can get my car to the dealer.

Doesn't look bad at all. I dont see it costing more than $500 to fix. Could've been worse and nice to see no one got injured.

Seems that everyone has been getting into accidents lately...I better stay home more often Glad to hear that you and your family were safe though, and hopefully the car will be fixed in no time.

Sorry to hear this Sameer, but glad nobody was injured. Now perhaps you can get the A-spec rear and come out to the next meet

Looks to be about $800.00, maybe a little less. Could have been a lot worse. Glad everyone was OK.

+1 I was thinking the same thing . Good luck getting it fixed and also good no one was hurt. Hopefully it won't take too long. Watch out for that whiplash, it can take a couple of days to kick in sometimes.

I'm glad that's not too bad. When I saw the thread topic I expected to see some horrible smashed up trunk, etc. Even when someone elses insurance covers it, repairs still suck :< Hope it gets fixed right.

looks exactly like my bumper, i got 770 from the other drivers insurance and that included a new bumper paint etc. and 2 days rental, didnt fix it however i think i can cover the damage with the rear aspec, your trunk area looks like you have a little more damage than i did, does your spare tire fit in your trunk correctly? any interior panels damaged?

The impact was quite hard and i was expecting a crushed in trunk too but when i cam out i was quite impressed with how well the TL did compared to his big F-150. his metal bumper was all mashed in and he said " man i am disappointed in my truck"

I can't tell if there is any interior panels damaged. Haven't checked the spare but will give it a look when i get back home.

Sorry to hear. I hate fucking tailgaters. Just this morning 30 min ago on the way to work there was this Chevy Trailblazer side by side with an is300 but only the is300's lane turned right. The Chevy of course tried to get ahead of it but knew it wouldn't get ahead so at the last second it cuts right behind the is300 and I swear there must have been only 2 inches distance between the two... add this jackass with the line of cars in front and behind and it coulda been bad; 1 good brake by the is300 and it woulda gotten fucked up.

I H8 dumb fucking drivers.

That doesn't look too bad but I'm sure it will cost at least $500 for repairs. Glad you and your family are okay though

UpDate: Got it Fixed

Well I got my car back from the dealer and the paint didn't match at all. When I picked up the car it was raining and overcast so couldn’t really see but once I washed it the next day it was clear. So I had them redo it and this time they were able to match it. Apparently they just mixed the paint by VIN and didn’t even bother checking if it will match. Also Added Depo Side markers all around cuz one of the front was not working so for the price of one Stock I got all 4 and they look awesome on my AM. Had to do a little bit of modification to the side markers and they fit in perfect. Also had to re install my camera since they had to replace the license plate holder and trim. I am happy to have my baby back to looking normal again.

Paint Doesn't match

Paint Fixed

I removed mine recently and had planned to get the car refinished. Turns out you cant even tell they were on there and it looks better IMO. When I was looking at the pics from the Galveston meet I was wondering why my car looked different from all the others until I noticed the BSM. I then removed them immediately. Btw my TL is AM as well.

Car looks great! You can certainly detail with the best of them.

How much did the repairs cost, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks TLDude but I think my car might have been repainted so I am reluctant to remove them.

Thanks Aman1 the repairs were around $2200. The other guys insurance paid for it. I try to keep it clean.

The Depo sidemarkers really set of an AM nicely---I love mine. I love the "crystal" lenses and the blacked out look they have. Get the Type-S tails next!
BTW---glad everyone was okay and you were able to get it resolved to your satisfaction.
