Lowest temp on the TL outside gauge?

Mine was at 9 degrees this morning here in Md..What was yours?..Can the TL display negative temperatures? I expected the tranny to be a bit stiff in shifting, but it seemed ok to me. I had an Audi that got real stiff when it got cold...

I hit minus 1 last week. The display read " -1" (right-justified). I have an AT, so no manual shifting. But the tranny was normal.

-1, You beat me by 10 degrees!! You should take a picture of that display...Given that it can display negative numbers, it should be able to show double digit negative numbers......that freakin cold....

We had a similar thread to this on Maxima.org, where members posted both the lowest and highest temp readings. So start posting some pics guys.

4 deg this AM on the way to work.

One thing I have noticed about the temp display is how slow it reacts to temp changes compared to my MB.

I took the TL out of a heated garage (50 deg) this AM and it took 4-5 miles before the temp had dropped and leveled off.

-20 Celsius (-4 F)...yes, it shows 2 digits negative number....I'm in Montreal area, Quebec, Canada....at this temperature, the displays are veeeerrrrrryyyy slow ! But the mechanic works fine. In here, we are really testing the heating features on the car. At -20 Celsius, it takes about 10-15 minutes drive before the car is getting warm inside and the leather seats stops giving you hemorroids...one thing I don't like, the windows are freezing inside...had this problem with cheap cars, I don't understand why this one does this...

0 degrees in central mass, I was hoping to get into the negative range, but nope.

dlarchev--we are experiencing basically the same temps, and I haven't had the prolonged warmup and icing on the windows you describe. Perhaps your thermostat (or the computer equivalent) is artificially prolonging your warmup time?

For the thermostat, I'll ask at my next visit to the dealer. Warmup time is normal, I don't know anybody in my area with a car sleeping outside at this cold saying that it gets warm quicker. The complain is more about the frosting of the windshield inside...for a Civic or a Tercel, I understand and experienced that in the past, but for a TL....

Maybe the humidity level (60-85% these days) has something to do with this...It would be nice to get a feedback from another TLer in Montreal, then I could really compare...but thanks for your experience, Bonedoc.

I have seen - 23 Celsius. Car is fine after a minute of warm-up, but the LCD's on the radio, climate control etc are really slow. I also had a problem with a CD when it is really cold - condensation perhaps? That is what used to happen in my last car.

I just hope that I do not see any 3 digit negative numbers.

A few weeks ago, the display shows a -28 °C but according to the weather report - the outside temperature was -33 °C. I am sure if I switch to °F, it will be showing a negative number.
I have not had any freezing on the inside of my windows. I had one time with 4 people travelling in the car and -20 °C outside temp. The windows were fogging up.

I didn't experienced this inside freezing, only if i start the car and then stop the car 30 minutes later. The humidity didn't have eough time to be able to go out of the car. Also if you have damp carpet, the humidiy level in car will be high and condensation will freeze, it's normal it's a physic rule.

In Montreal my temp was -23°C equal -9.5 ° F

I have exactly the same complaint, it takes forever for the display to get close to the outside temp in the winter after leaving my garage. I drive 5 miles/12 minutes to work & it still isn't down to the correct temp.

Last winter someone posted the algorithm the system uses in reaching equilibrium, it was obvious why it takes so long, its programmed to drop only 2-3 degrees per mile driven or something--overengineering.

Plus even with a longer drive, mine never gets down to the true outside temp in really cold weather, below 20 degrees. The dealer adjusted it the full 6 degrees allowed (after telling me it registered 32 degrees in putting the sensor in a cup with water/ice chips) and it still displays 3 degrees warmer than the actual outside temp (as measured by a certified thermometer), and is off even more when the actual outside temp is down in the teens or single digits.

Roger that! My '02 RL had the same slow reaction to temp changes. My wifes BMW is fast to adjust to temp. My '05 TL is about the same as the RL was. Also if you go through a car wash the temp sensor gets hung and takes a long time to make adjustments.

A while back I had -32ºC, which is around -26ºF I believe... damn cold, but started fine. Still better than last winter where we went under -50ºC... hope to see non of that this year (Although I think we hit -44ºC with wind chill a few weeks ago)
