Loving this Ineternet buying
I'm having a blast haggering with these guys over email. Much easier to break 'em down when they don't have you in their habitat Anyway - getting some nice deals on '06 TL's w/ Navi.......down to $32,800 - hoping to go lower.

Yeah, that is the way to go. Since the TL has no options besides NAV, I did the same thing. I called about 10 dealers (the internet managers) and simply asked "What is your price?" I was able to get my 04 TL for $500 over invoice.
It is the only way I will buy a car now.

Do you guys know whether you have to pay taxes on the car if you buy it on a different state? For example, I live in Louisiana, but they only have 1 dealership in nola and 1 in baton rouge, so that doesn't leave to much option for negotiations. If I were to buy my car from TX or other states, what would happen with that? I know that Oregon (I think that's it) has no sales tax.
Thanks for your help, and sorry if the question sounds stupid.

Stick with purchase price only. It's simpler, and all dealers will negotiate on that basis.
And yeah, e-haggling is the way to go these days. If you're ready to buy, nobody should have to enter a dealership without a pre-negotiated price.

Thats exactly what my dad did when he was looking to buy a new '05 TL. The dealer offered him a price of $33,700 (which was the best price offer we recieved) and when he actually went into the dealership, the salesman forgot what he originally wrote in the email and offered my dad $33,000 flat instead....so yay for online dealing

I did the online thing too and it was the best. I went from an initial offer price of $33,400.00 (inc dest), to a final price of $31,500.00 (inc. dest). So that is what.... about $1,300.00 under invoice....
No pressure haggling or sales. I will only buy cars this way from now on...

Another tip I discovered is to first price the vehicle on my own through each dealer's website. For example, I noted the price of each accessory installed from the Parts department of Dealer X. When his quote came through, he had beat my lowest quote by $100, but then added $150 on to his own website's price to one of my accessories! I pointed this out and he quickly corrected the price, citing "miscommunication between parts and sales!".

Still some '05s out there
Yes, telling the dealers in the area (out to 100 miles or so) by phone or email that you are getting the "best price" from each one for a specific model is the way to go. On Monday I just picked up a brand new '05 TL (AT no Nav) for $29,750 (+ tax but including everything else). There are no real differences between the '05s and '06s. Also, since I keep cars for a long time (the TL is replacing a '93 Legend with 175K miles), the resale difference of one model year is insignificant. Around the Detroit area I found about 13-15 '05s still in stock.
