Losing Enthusiasm
The fun factor of drving my TL has significantly decreased. I guess I am just going to have to wait for Comptech to release their supercharger, although I do have an Injen Intake on the way hopefully that will spice things up. I wonder if it would have made a difference if I would have gotten the 6MT?

yeah, the MT would have given you a different feel. AT sport shift really sucks. if they had a 6MT RWD you would have been really really happy.
also don't forget, it's not a sports car, for that you need to jump in a 350z, those things boogie.
forget the S/C, expensive and complicated. i'll bet Comptech does not have a S/C available until late 2005 (maybe). get a NoS kit. if a NoS off-the-shelf kit is not available you can have it fabricated with off-the-shelf parts. 100hp for $1k is primetime, simple with a single fogger "wet" nozzle. the only tricky part with this much HP is getting ECU to adjust timing. a 50hp dry shot should work fine without messing with ECU.

I'm just curious to why you have all those cars listed. I'm sure they're not all yours, but your family members. Maybe your parents?
But if all those cars are indeed yours, then why don't you just drive the "extremly modded" Mustang GT or any other car for that matter?

I just read your post and I could not help thinking about Mustangs and Camaros.
Not trying to convert you to American cars but if you want reasonably priced HP you can not beat modding a 350 or 5.0 motor. Lots of stuff at reasonable cost and you can make serious HP.

Supercharger will be a nice add-on, though I too wish I'd gotten a manual. Sounds like you need to sell all three of the cars in your TL photo and buy a BMW M5 :-). Seriously, if it's boring to you, I'm sure the supercharger will add 50-60whp to spicen things up a bit.

How can you afford so many cars at 22? A Range Rover? Jeez....pretty lucky guy! I would give anything to have a Range Rover, ever since I went on the Range Rover Experience (off-road driving, etc.)

Ali, you're right about needing a 6MT. Folken like me who are married to non-stick driving wives are screwed unless we buy a weekend machine.
Even so, the 5AT TL is pretty fun to drive to me. To each, his own!

I was luckey and married a farm girl who had been driving manuals since she was 14. When I finally got her her first auto (at age 32) she thought she had died and gone to heaven.
I thought about a 6MT and drove both but in the end decided to get the 5AT (I have a Mustang GT 5MT when I want to shift). Still not sure I made the right decision on the TL but for 90% of the time, it's ok. I do think the SS mode stinks and is not worth the bother though.

The fun factor with my car truly died a few weeks after I got my TL. Especially since my modded TL-S was much quicker than my stock '04 TL. The manual transmission would have definitely kept your interest a little longer.. but I agree w/ 1SICK, you should have gotten a G35 6MT or a BMW 330Ci 5MT if you truly wanted that fun factor to continue, there is only so much fun you can have with FWD. Just being able to rip the back end out in a RWD car can inject fun factor into your veins time and time again, regardless of how long you've had the car.
The supercharger will be the same deal... though I am also waiting anxiously for it and probably will buy it, I know that it'll be fun for about three months and then I'll want more power, and better handling, and RWD.
Keep this in mind.. maybe it's just better to nip it in the bud and soop up your RWD cars.

That's really sad. (seriously) Worse part is, that's pretty much why I didnt pull the trigger on trading my 02 Maxima for the TL (both auto). 2.5 years after buying it, my Maxima is still very fun to drive even though its only a 4AT.
IMO, anyone buying the new TL who is looking for performance should definitely get the 6MT.

Now as for the fun factor, you always wont what you dont have. (normal) I also have a AMG c32 and thats a fun car but its only performance. For almost 55,000 i dont have Navi, XM and bluetooth among other things witch i think also adds to the funfactor. I also like the interior and exterior of my $35,000 TL better...
Once again i think all car loose there funfactor after awhile.... and yes even the G35, BMW and the Lexuses do to, thats why thay have newer models with funnier stuff...Yes it would be great if the TL was RWD but then you'd wont all-wheel drive or something else in a car. And then the saga continues... Theres allot of cars out there i love, just none of them are Lexuses. (sorry just my 2 cents)
