$3k is ridiculous for 3 days of training. Oh well I guess it would be worth it,

If you see half that much power increase, consider yourself fortunate. My experience has been that all the tuners overestimate, and also that the benefits are sometimes not serial - that is, one cannot add them up one by one. I have seen bolts on done without a dyno tune where the net result was zero - some added some juice, others took it away. I wrote an article for a magazine on some Dinan stiff that was supposed to add a hunk of power, and we got 1/3 what was expected - HP tends to disappear when someone without an skin in the game is watching the dyno.

Good luck, though, have at it!!!

This is called dynamic compression just for the record.

Another thought ... everyone does seem to be dogging aftermarket manufactures claims-to the extreme. While there claims are high, I am sure they also ensure the car is in tip top shape before doing the mods so therefore they get the most out of it. I have modded many of cars and I know you must get everything right before you do the mod and dyno it. You must spec your ALL of your timing, play with spark gap, etc till you have the correct baseline HP number.

Your lucky you will even get half of that, and usually they over rate it and its rated at the crank not at the wheels. If you purchased this car to be some 2F2F car then you made a wrong decision. Just like how K&N says you get like 20 something hp from their filter/intake, more like 1-2 whp. Its a great car for what is is, and it will beat a considerable amount of cars out there, but the only real worthwhile mods would be a supercharger/turbo application, and if you go that route you risk blowing your motor if you do not spend the extra cash and rebuild your motor with forged internals. Not to mention the TL is a sporty LUXURY car, that is FRONT wheel drive. Just my two cents

I'm astounded by the number of English majors on this forum. I think every post should be graded by the moderator regarding the proper use of the English Language. Those that don't make a minimum "C" grade get dumped. They could also open a forum for "hip hop" language, and all other posts should go there for translation by the younger members of the forum. That way everyone would be happy.

Guy, I make every attempt to use proper English, and then i get nailed for making people's heads hurt - must be the Krell Brain Boost they get.

Anyway, to paraphrase Dr,.MLK, we strive here to be judged on "the quality of the shared information, not the school marm precision of it". I try to proof many of my posts, but if I nitpicked each one, the RR Journals would be the RR Journal. No points off for spelling, but for flagrant idiocy, all bets are off.

411 7HIs 3N61i5h 57ufph I5 w4Y 0^3r4t3D...

hehe jk...

I really want to believe what AEM says is true, however those numbers really dont seem possible since we already have a cai in our TL. If this SC ever comes out, i doubt it will be worth the 6g's to get 40 whp.

6 PSI yields 419 HP at the wheel?!! Even at the crank it seems a bit optimistic. The SVT Cobra has about 8 PSI (yes, at lower CR of about 8.5:1) and makes over 400 crank HP out of the 4.6 DOHC. That 419 sounds awfully ambitious or the dyno was super-friendly. Some dynos yield very "tuner friendly" results - ever seen one of those tuner cars in one of major mags? - they seldom make or perform as claimed.

What ET and trap speed does that yield? That would put some meat behind those figures for me.

JET Chip doesn't work at all!

15psi yields 540 HP (same piping, just more pressure). 7.5 psi should yield 1.5 times base HP or 405 HP, 6 psi will be slightly less, and i'm guessing a 2-7% loss through AT and less for the MT. i doubt 6psi S/C yielded 419 HP at the wheels.

Yes do a search on A-CL for info about the new turbo kit. 6psi = 419 whp.

I already read it - that is what I was basing my observations on. I think their claims are specious, which is why i was hoping someone had a time slip that would settle it.

???

How can you hold onto the steering wheel when you have that much HP through the front wheels? Driving on the dyno is one thing but the street is something else. Plus, did they upgrade their trannies also? Talk about early tranny failure....
