dyno it is not, but it has a sensitive accelerometer which can be use to roughly calc HP.

mostly used for testing 0-60 times after making changes to engine/exhaust, etc.

it'a a neat gadget to have.

it is truly functional, but i would buy it just to calculate HP. it has other nice features (data aquisition). their website targets the product at autocross drivers.

This device is quite good, and seems to be only good for giving you relative performance figures.

IMHO, this device used to give you quite optimistic results, usually give you "slightly faster" reading/results.

it would be nice to be able to rent that thing... dont feel like shelling out 300 for this just to find out how my car performs and then putting it back in the box

Essentially a gyro that measures acceleration. More accurate than the "Butt Dyno" but doesn't measure HP or torque. There are too many variables to accurately convert acceleration numbers to HP or torque.... weight, traction, wind resistance, etc.
