Looking at an '05 6-speed

Hey AZine,

I've been hunting for a 6 speed 4 door for a while now and it's always been between an 06-07 Accord or a 3rd Gen TL. Finding 6 speed Accords is harder then finding a virgin at a brothel apparently....

Just the other day I came across a TL that really caught my eye: 2005 WDP (my fav color on TL), 60,xxx miles, Navi, A-spec kit front and rear, trunk lip, one owner...etc. My only reservation was the price which seemed a little high, $16,500. KBB lists this as a $14,700 vehicle with the noted mileage and features. Here's the link below.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...TAFSRCHUSDTEXT

It is located almost two hours away from where I live so I would like to work out the details beforehand, I don't want to waste 4 hours driving only to come back empty-handed.

Would an initial offer of $14,500 put off the seller? Is the market for this TL that strong that they can command this kind of premium? What are your thoughts?

-Milan

I think he's listing a high price only to negotiate lower.
offer him the 14.5K and see wht he says

maybe you can meet some where in the middle of 14.5 and 16.5

Good luck man. This same one kept popping up on my searches but it looks like I am heading to TX to get mine. Just waiting on a call. Let us know the outcome!

That was my thought too, but damn, almost $2000 over KBB value?

Interesting, Auto Trader has it as a new listing. I'd be interested to know how long it's been for sale so as to know how much leverage I can have on the asking price.

Whereabouts are you from? You must have a very broad search range to see cars both from Michigan and Texas!

wow that thing is beautiful! I'm sure he listed it that high to try and make up for the cost of his aspec kit and being that its a rare 6mt... I recently bought my 05 wdp - 75k miles w/ nav, no aspec, 5AT for 14,5.. I doubt he would let it go for that cheap but i dno, its worth a try! don't let this one go!

Talk to the seller and try and get high res pics including any blemishes on the car. See if he has all the maint records. Then start negotiating from $14.5. I'm sure he'll come down from his asking price but maybe not to your offer. It looks like a really nice car.

This owner is trying to try to get a little cash back for what he put into the car. You dont actually really think a car with a-spec kit should be worth a car w/o this 2000.00 kit (when new) do you? If I were you, i'd actually offer 800 bux over the NADA value of that car. I'm sure the owner will let it go. It's a gorgeous car. Do you really wanna loose out on a car you've really had trouble finding?

I goofed, I put in 2004 for the year when I was on KBB.com. So I guess the price is fair, my bad!

I had to drive 300 miles to find my 04 with nav and 6 speed and black leather, paid $13,750. It had 75k miles, and Type-S wheels.

Sounds like a good price, but always try to bargain. Since its a 6spd, guessing the previous owner is a car guy. Have him email you maintenance records from the dealer.

I'm pretty sure that I could find the answer if I did a quick search but since I'm not making a new thread, could someone tell me if the Konis from my Gen 7 Accord (03-07) fit on the TL?

For what it's worth....I did a 300 mile trip to pick up my '05 6spd MT TL. I flew in, dealership had someone pick me up at the airport and I drove my car home.

It was not an overnight event. Take your time on searching. These cars can be had for good prices if there is room to bargain. In my case, I came in low, had check in hand, 2 days of haggling, I came out with a steal.

Good luck!

So to update, I called the seller before going to my bank to apply for a loan and the car was sold yesterday. Ended up selling for $15,500. I'm really kicking myself for not acting sooner but with work, I just had no time. Besides, I still have to see how much the bank is willing to loan me.

Right now I'm looking at an '07 Silver Type-S with 6 speed and navi. Car has 77k miles and dealer wants $18,800. Only problem is, it's been sold pending buyer gets financing through their bank.

The car is only about an hour drive from my place so I went to check it out today. Wasn't too happy to find the front bumper has sings of hit and possibly being non-original as the paint doesn't quite match the front quarter panel. The rear bumper and front side sill has some minor damage as well but only where I would see it.

Exactly what I told You would happen. Im sorry. You should have know what max amount loan your bank will approve you for b4 you even begin lookin so that you know what cars to stay clear of.Thats what I do. It saves on time. Yeah you find a car but then while you go to the bank to see if you are approve, a buyer comes with money ready to buy and the car wasn sold under u while at the bank. 6 speeds again are too rare When they come on market, they don't sit long. Good luck on the next 6spd you find.

I have an 04 TL WDP w/ navi and 6MT. It also comes with the A-spec package (Wheels, kit and trunk badge) and the Carbon fiber package (center console trim, rear A/C trim, steering wheel and trims on window switchs and VSA-mirror control panel)

The Body has 66k which is flawless, the interior is in excellent shape with minor wear on drivers seat (Nobody else really sits in my car) The engine has 17k as they replaced it for a defective issuse and still has warranty on all the work. While there they replaced the clutch, belts, tensioners, fluids ect. The Acura dealership I work for offered me 15k for my car, they searched the 500 miles for the same vehicle with same options and only came up with one car in Texas 05 WDP 6MT no navi or any packages listed for 14.5 also had 88k on it.

Yeah to be honest it's hard to find a good TL especially in WDP that's been kept well and has almost all dealer packages. I may sell my car but for $17K-18k concidering it's condition and the aftermarket items that go will the car (which includes A-spec wheels and the yummy Work VS-XX wheels)

Any luck? Your thread has gone dead for a long time. Does this mean you have given up on your search?

honestly just get it, when I go out of town for work which is semi often I rent autos boxes and when I get home and drive my 6spd w/navi at night it's like heaven. I live near the coast and just drive down the coast and for some reason the stock navi just lights up the car beautifully.

You find the car you like in 6sp/navi/color (whoa aspec? grab it stat) etc. you buy it even if it's a little more than wanted. So what if you pay 1k more than you wanted, spanned over a 4+ years it's nothing.

I'm a simple guy I buy $20 jeans, $20 shirts don't care for fancy restaurants, watches etc. I'd have gladly paid 1k more for my car. If you've got a steady job just treat yourself. btw I did the same thing, saw one I really liked but thought 90 miles away was too far, mulled over the drive, price etc. and it was gone. The next one I liked I rented a car and drove the 300+ miles at 4am in the morning. Never regretted it.
