a little frustrated ... advice?

hey guys i have been having a little problem with my dealership ... obviously not surprising ... any way i got the seat skin replaced on my 07 tl passenger seat. i had to go back atleast five times for a number of reasons in order to get everything fixed properly. now winter is here and i turned on the seat heater, and what do you know ... no heat. so i took the car in last friday and picked it up today because they told me that the seat heater part will not be coming in till next week. now through all this time i have been very patient, but the dealership is about 15 miles from my house, so it is a little irritating with going back and forth so many times to get something fixed that seems relatively easy to fix. should i ask for anything in compensation of my gas and time wasted, or should i just take it and be happy after my car is fixed to my standards.

i guess im just a little frustrated with having to keep going back and take time out of my day to head to the dealership. i dont want to yell at them because they do have my car in their hands and i dont want them to mess it up.

so let me know what you guys think i should do ... or any advice for who i should call for this problem taking so long to resolve.

thanks in advance

keep your cool head & attitude and give them a chance to fix the problem adequately. i personally don't think your entitled to anything at this point and i don't see a reason to involve ACS.

good luck w/ the repairs.

BTW- what was wrong w/ your seat originally and why did you have to go back so many times?

Go to the dealership, get the work done and make sure its good. Once it is done, request to speak to the service manager and talk to him about what happened. There should be some form of quality control for the work that is being done there, and in you case there was none. Explain to him how many times you have had to drive back and forth to get your issues resolved. Ask him if he would accept that for his own personal vehicle. I doubt not, as him for a free oil change or something simple for the hassle, nothing to big...

well originally the seat was wearing way too fast and i had the seat skin replaced. while they did this they broke the back part of the seat which i didnt notice til a week later, so i had to take the car back. while they fixed the back part of the seat, it looked like they had to take the seat out to do it, so they damaged the dashboard taking the seat out ... so obviously i had to come back later to get the dashboard patched up. now i was going to use my seat heater, and it didnt work, so i took it back and they told me that the heating thing inside the seat was not even put back in when the replaced the seat skin. it was suppose to be done this week, but it wasnt and they needed the loaner car back so they asked me to bring my car back next week ... i have been calm so far so we will see what happens, btw its radley acura in falls church

Yeah sucks to hear bro. We all have bad experiences at the dealership. I took my car in for the 3rd gear grind on a full tank of gas. When i got the car back, mechanic goes "No problem, couple of other mechanics drove it pretty hard too?" I was shocked, cause I couldn' t believe my ears. Went into my car and found a quarter of my tank gone. WTF?

I sucked it up, and just left feeling defeated. If you're car is still broken after the "fix" the seat, then bring hell haha.

Funny you say that. I took mine in to Karen Radley Acura in Woodbridge (sister dealership I think) for the 3rd gear issue. They changed the fluid and swore that my rear brakes were so bad, that I should not even drive home without letting them change them. I tell them that I do my own brakes and the guy starts talking like I should write my own life insurance policy before I leave the lot because my brakes are going to fail and I will die at the next intersection. Keep in mind that this is an '05 with 58,000 miles at the time. I stop by the auto parts store, pick up some pads and head home. I jack up the car, pull the rear wheels off and guess what......You could hardly tell the difference between the old pads and the new ones. Moral of story??? Do your own work or find someone you trust. There is a guy who ownes a auto shop called Dr. Honda that I know. All he works on is Honda/Acuras and I trust this dude, no question. Sorry to thread jack but leave that dealer alone.

I'd have been "looking for blood" long ago...

After installation of the new seat skin, how can you not reassemble the seat exactly in reverse order and forget to reinstall the heating elements for the heated seat???

Kinda sounds to me like they broke/damaged the heating element and are trying to cover up their mistake. (You've already mentioned that they damaged the dashboard when they hastily removed the seat from the car). There is no reason why a customer has to go back to the dealership five times to fix a seat skin... (while systematically destroying other parts of the car in the interim)

I REFUSE to have anybody THAT inept touching my car!

What is disheartening is that you are at the mercy of this inept dealer to set things right (else, take the loss and go somewhere else they know what their doing and pay out of your own pocket).

I will never step foot in Radley again. It's closer, from my home.. but.. I will gladly drive to Pohanka instead. They are way better, in my opinion. They've been great to me so far.. even though I didn't even buy my car from them.. (bought it from Radley instead.. mistake #1)

*EDIT* - Just fully read your post and saw you were talking about the one in Falls Church... I have only dealt with the one in Woodbridge.... but, I wouldn't go to any of them - ever again.. even if you paid me.

I was in Radley in Woodbridge this weekend picking up a part they had to order for me. One of the salesmen was giving me the evil eye because when I was in the market for my TL, they had one there but was asking too much for it with the miles that it had. I looked at it and decided to go with one from an Infiniti dealer in Tysons. The salesman was the one that tried to pressure me into getting the car and since I didn't, I guess he is pissed with me. Doesn't matter, I will sleep just as well tonight over it.

Side note - It was a NBP, 6MT, with navi and they swore that it wouldn't last long due to the high demand. I remember seeing that TL on the lot at least 2 months after I got mine. So much for high demand.

Happened to me too. Well the car i was going to get in Riverside CA. was a demo/managers car either way the price they wanted was almost the same as an NEW one it had 4%$# miles in it. So when i told them to lower price they didn't budge because it was a hard model to find 08 WDP TL S. I told them wana bet i could find another one. and i did these guys wanted 32800 for the one with 4000 miles on it i found the new one with 70 miles for 33900 so guess what i did.Sales rep called me and asked so you want the car i told him give you 32000 would not budge so i said thanks. Went to Mision Viejo and got my 08 WDP Type S 33900 plus you know. Drove by the riverside dealer about two week later and guess what i saw up front of dealer that WDP TL they still had it. Guess they lost a sale with me.

I'm going through a similar experience with poor customer service at an Acura dealer. I'm having a lot of patience because it's not worth complaining too much, but if things don't get resolved soon... (it's minor stuff, poor communication and a package of two small parts (grab rail cap and shift lock cover) that was said to be shipped.)

My Stealership tried to pull the same thing on me.. total b.s... i think some of these service writer's came from selling life insurance. Pulled my pads off and they weren't "you're going to die!" bad.. seriously..

Why did they need to take the heating pad out? I find it pretty interesting since when I replaced my driver side and passenger side seat bottom covers I never had to remove the heating pad. The pad is also glued or has and adhesive which would prevent the heating pad from just coming off the cushion. They may have forgotten to reconnect it. I think I had to disconnect 4-6 connectors for the driver side, one being for the heating pad. So what the service writer told you was BS. Some service writers have no technical knowledge and just regurgitate what the techs tell them or just BS there way through it since the average consumer has no mechanical or technical knowledge/background either. Also they probably called an upholstery shop to recover the seat, most dealerships do.

I replaced the passenger seat bottom because the previous owner had a big dog and the claws left indentations in the seat and I replaced the driver side because I accidently left my work badge in my back pocket and the clip tore the seat cover.

I would take it to Pohanka from now on. They replaced my back seat bench cover and the driver side seat back because of premature failure and did it relatively fast with no issues.

that really sucks, thanksfully its working now.

I have never had a problem with my dealership (John Eagle Acura in Houston/Katy,TX) They are wonderful and fix everything and even checks for any future problems and fixes them without telling me. I had brake pads that were wearing out and they replaced them free of charge (warranty doesn't even cover them I think). All they ask for is to do a survey on the phone with Acura and they (the service rep) will ask if everything went out right 2 weeks later. They're amazing, sucks to hear everyone's bad experience with there dealership.
