Can anyone post up a video or a DETAILED picture steps to switching the license plate bulb?!

ALSO... if possible... switching the YELLOW parking lights to like... a BLUE or WHITE LED parking lights... also... should i get BLUE or WHITE parking lights? HAHA

Thanks guys!

there a LAWS about what color is legal where on the car
BLUE IS NOT LEGAL ANYWHERE in lighting- for police use only
turn signal/park lights can be yellow or white in front and yellow or red in back, that way people know which direction your car is pointed

to replace a lic plate bulb see owners manual- its just a couple of screws

its pretty straight forward, just talk off the trunk lid carpet and push and twist the lights. They pop right off. I have blue reverse lights and they look bad ass, but like 01tl4tl said they are not legal. If you would like I could post a pic.

^^ he was talking about the license plate bulbs...

I've tried changing them, but I couldn't get them out easily, so I gave up, same with the trunk map light.... They look so fragile, I was afraid to apply pressure to it.

Go white for the license plate lights.

It's only a pain to take the trunk liner off. After that, just get to the 2 light sockets, and unplug them. Getting the sockets "out" is easy, but putting it back in is a pain, because the angle is awkward.

But after you do it one time, you'll be an expert.

Gotta use the scotch tape method!! it worked like a charm for me, jsut took some scotch tape, wrapped it around on the bulb, pressed firmly to make sure that the tape is on tight and then i used the tape to pull off...someone had a post on how to do this and it was awesome!

If the bulbs are too long, you cannot get the bulb holder back in.

As mentioned, you put in Blue and the local will be having numerous conversations with you.

Question:

Would it be illegal to have red lights over the license plate?

I would say yes, if they cannot read your plate, they will pull you over.

the loose plate in the window says stolen car or stolen plate or crime in progress of some sort ---meriting a conversation.

How would you see backing up with blue reverse lights anyway- I can barely see thru the tinted windows now! need one of those backup cameras for my 01

Turn signals blue- no way- lic plate lights- no!! little blue dots on the plate bolts--NOOOO, those are for family of cops!!

Even putting aftermaket system with HID 6000ks in the foglights can get you pulled over- the fogs are supposed to be low intensity so they dont glare-back, and low color like 3000k yellow is for fogs

Ca. spent 4 Million dollars last year teaching cops how to spot street racer mods and what to look for under the hood that voids smog.
The focus is stolen parts-stolen cars turned into street racers, but they find a lot of things not to like on a typical saturday night - even a basic DUI checkpoint- 8 drunks and 70 tickets for whatever-and 32 cars impounded!!!!

But each person is free to do whatever they want

back in the day- a few 3 decades ago- as I stood by my bike at the roadside, I specifically asked the motorcyle officer who had stopped me-
`Hey those are really cool little blue lights I see on the back of your bikes, can I put those on mine?`
NOOOOO NOOOOO NOOOOO was the reply-
I'm pretty sure he was real serious as he added LAW ENFORCEMENT USE ONLY

We laughed and he said- here you go- I only wrote you for 65- Ride Safe (82 is a bit fast in the 55)!

OK, some of you guys are confusing me...

Reverse Lights or License Plate Lights... two different things...

For Reverse lights see the 3G thread... Definitive LED... you'll find beautiful LED bulbs for that...I love them in my car.

You'll also find info regarding the license plate lights...

HERE: https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/sale-comptech-springs-so-cal-area-173833/

My question still remains, how do I pop off the trunk map light, without breaking that fragile clear glass piece...I was afraid of using a tool on it. And when I was looking at the license plate lights, I've removed the backing, disconnected the bulbs, but I failed to release the housing for bulbs, again, I was afraid of snapping it off... I can't feel my strength... (I've broke many many many things in my life by applying too much pressure, you should see me when I fish, but the time I take the hook out, the fish looks like Shaq has slapped it, lol)

Trunk Light is basically the same as the vanity lights.

A tab on one side need to be depressed inward/toward the direction of the bulb ( --> ), then the lens is pulled down ( V ) on that side (kind of like a hinge).

Regards the LP housings, use a small flat head screw driver to press one side of the housing inward, away from/out of the snap in tab on the lens. Once one side is loose, both side of a housing is loose, both sides will pop out.

For the License plate lights, there are 2 notches on the sides that you have to press in to get it to release it was a bit difficult for me to do, so what I did was press in one side and shift it jsut a bit so that it stays un-notched and then i worked the other side loose.

What is a "Trunk Map Light?" I don't read or store maps in my trunk, but I figured you meant the light that is actually in the trunk - there is only one.

Yeah, on the Cop. There are laws, but you can use ANYTHING that conforms to the law.
