let's hear some of your stories
We all know that our cars are a work of art..so what's some of the stories you've got of people staring/admiring at you while drivin..
the other day i was pulling out of my driveway when this girl passed by staring at the car, causing her to eat a red light without noticing and getting a ticket! lol..
the best is pulling up to school and havin all the ladies know a studmuffin is in a class with them haha..

I get a lot of compliment and stares, but this one time I was parking my car, and I was reversing into the handicap spot... and this one guy was passing by me and I can see that he's cursing at me the whole time, and I can kinda read his lips he's basically saying "why are you parking there?". Anyways as I was getting my wheelchair out of my car the guy walked over and said "hey i'm sorry, I didn't realize you were in a wheelchair because of your car" and he goes on and say "this is a nice looking car". I just laughed....
Theres a thread about this........ but its fun to hear more stories....
I've gotten......
- Thats an Accord right?
- I like your BMW...
- Dang, I love your car, especially those brakes.
Then theres always people just looking as you pass by, its fun. Also there reaction when they learn that its an Acura....

Being 18 i get a lot of shit for my car from other students at school. i go to school in MA and when i pull in the garage i feel weird getting out when someone else is getting out of their 92 civic or something. I try to avoid people in there. There is only one car i complement in the garage. Some kid has a 05 Blue RSX type s. Looks hot.
But now i dont worry any more. Over christmas break a kid brought up a 06 Maserati. So he now takes the cake for hottest car in the student Garage.
I have recieved comments in there about how my car is nice but i bet he now gets more.

I was low-flying down the highway and got clipped by a state trooper.
After giving him my license and ins. card, he returns to his car and comes back a
minute later with a perplexed look:
Trooper: What kinda car is this?
Me: An Acura TL...
Trooper: Nice... (Looking the car up and down, checking out the speedo)
*Still got a ticket, and the car was fully badged.

I think the best compliment i got that was very disturbing was
: that's a really nice car... now slow it down I'd hate to see it wrapped around a pole
after i got my ticket

I was at a gas station the other night when the cashier said "Is that a BMW? It's really nice!"
I love it when I drive on campus and people turn to look at the car, even though its kind of dirty right now. It still turns heads though!
I was driving our rented minivan back from Las Vegas and at about 11, 12k ft. elevation, I floored it and it had barely any power to go up this hill (at about 60 MPH) and I laughed and yelled out "this thing has no power!" And my buddy with a modified STi grins and says "like your TL does."
Well, and then I drove one time when we went to Copper Mtn and he retracted that comment and said "your car actually has quite a bit of power up here." Bastid.
Other less depressing comments:
"I love your lights" - pretty much everyone... minus those who get flashed by them
"Damn, that's the biggest, sweetest spare tire I've ever seen" - my buddy and his bro
"Dude, that's sweet. That's sweet, dude." - one of my best friends when he first saw it.
"I love how the tint goes with your car. It's perfect." - tint shop employee (I got three cars + a couple of my friends' cars done by him and this is the only time he's said this)
"Is that your TL outside? I love those. I want one." - a buddy's gf.
Those are the only ones that come to my mind right now...

I have dark tint and I get a lot of people trying to see whos driving. Its funny when I park my car and im still sitting in it. I catch bywalkers trying to squint in and they spasm out when I open the door. There were a few times I see them just trying to play it off and walk a different direction hehe.
I also have a stuffed monkey hanging of my rear tow hitch. (always had one on all my cars) It's a black monkey and I constantly, probably on a daily basis get a comment.
-Pedestrians walking and point
-freeway "Hey you have a thing stuck on ur car", "hey there is a purse on your car" "hey, nice monkey!"
Other than that, the TL alone gets enough stares. =)

Sorry, two stories about my '99 Solara, but they're great!
I had originally ordered a red Honda Accord EX-V6 coupe in May 1998 when that model was new and in high demand. The dealer promised delivery in less than a month, and the delivery date kept slipping 'til it was mid July and I was getting pi$$ed. At around the same time, Westbury Toyota started advertising the new Solara which I'd seen at the NY auto show.
I ended up ordering the Solara mid July and cancelled the order for the Accord. I had the Solara in less time than the last promised delivery date for the Accord, and I had to go to the Honda dealer to get my deposit back.
I took delivery of the Solara in August 1998. It was the first year of the Solara, and it's was (and is) a very nice looking car, especially in red.
I showed up at the Honda dealership with the Solara and parked in front of their showroom window.
It took five minutes to take care of the paperwork at the dealership, and most of the people in the showroom when I walked in were outside and surrounding my car by the time I got back to it. Got all sorts of questions, and even the Honda mechanics told me I made the right choice!
Second story. A few weeks after the first story, I'm driving down to South NJ to visit a friend. Get to a toll on the Garden State Parkway and the attendant sticker her head out of the booth to compliment and ask about the car. I gave the brief details mindful of the cars lining up behind me. The attendant starts yelling out to other attendants to check out the car, and toll taking at that exit stops for a minute.
I kept looking for Allan Funt's "Candid Camera".
I got LOTS of compliments about the car in the first few months as I went that long without seeing another. They're all over the place now, but still look great, especially when compared to the second generation Solara!
I've gotten some compliments about the TL too, but nothing like the stories mentioned above.

How can you say this isn't a pretty face?
I have had at least 5-6 people stop me and ask about the car, what model is it, how much was it, and they proceed to tell me they are going to go test one out. People love this car... a guy at my new condo complex, a garage attendant, a restaurant parking lot, a college parking lot, it seems any time I am out and about in my TL I get questions and compliments. I think the body kit really makes it stand out.

They are nice looking cars, a lot like the last gen CL. Don't think for a minute that the bright red color didn't have something to do with it, though. People, especially women, loved my San Marino Red CL Type-S.
Actually, the two cars look a lot alike.

As sure as I am that I would have been happy with the Accord, I'm still glad I ended up with the Solara. I find it more attractive and it has a usable back seat. The car has less than 33,000 miles on it now and has run flawlessly to date.
A co-worker of mine has a CL-S in black. Haven't seen that particular car, but they do look mean in black!
Similar experience...

She said that she had discussed this with her mother (who also owns an Accord coupe, older model) and they came to the conclusion that the TL was just a more expensive "glorified Honda" and that there weren't any differences between them. HAHAHAHAHA!
To save argument with a good friend...I just didn't even go there and left it alone; I left her have her glory of finally having the navi, which she never seemed to acknowledge when I had it. When I told my fiance about the conversation his immediate response was that she was jealous and that the car may be made by Honda, but it's definitely NOT the Accord. I have no regrets and love my TL...
Another quickie.
I hadn't told anyone at work that I was getting the TL and the day I parked it in my garage space my phone was a ringing! I've had the following from car-buffs at work in reference to going from my Accord to my TL:
"Damn - your car looks like a freaking spaceship inside"
"...now THAT'S a car!!!"
"When did you buy a beemer?"
"...sweet ride"
yada, yada, yada....
I've had some random guy follow me down the road for a few streetlights, and each time we stopped at a light, he would ask me questions about the car, and he even tried to convince me to sell it to him! No joke.
I'm a project manager and one time coming back from a visit to a client site, I offered to give some of my team members a ride in my brand new WDP TL. The were both Indians, one is a contractor who's been here in the states for a year or so, the other was directly from India, and here for only 3 months. They were positively in awe of my vehicle, especially the navigation system (claiming they've worked on the software for these navi systems but never actually got to see one in use
) Anyways, I had to deal with a million 'Dats so coo' comments, and "this is da best vehicle I have eva seen"
and I'm sure one is going to go back to India and tell the rest of my team over there that I'm some sortof millionare
I feel a little guilty though because they dont have access to such luxury...we take a lot of things for granted here.

I was stopped at a light next to a Mazda 6 that was a red color similar to the TL's RRP. At the time Ms1995hoo was starting to think about a new car and I was checking out the Mazda wondering whether to suggest one to her (she has had several Mazdas over the years, including an RX-4 and two RX-7s, but the TL and the RX-8 are out of her price range). I was thinking it was a good-looking car and then I noticed that the driver and his passenger—both of whom were rather heavyset, tough-looking black men (I'm a white male of average build)—were rather intently staring at me. I was a little bit spooked until one of them gave a thumbs-up and mouthed "nice car," which is when I realized that they were checking out MY car at the same time.
