Are LED's oil sensitive??

I was wondering if LED bulbs are as temperamental as halogens as far as oil from your hands is concerned? I got a pair of 9005 LED's for my DRL's off of ebay today and when I installed them only the bottom portion of the tree lit up and 2 lights at the tip. I contacted the seller in hopes to exchange these bulbs because I believe that they are defective, but I was wondering if any type of oil from your hands could possibly come into play here? The thing that is funny is both bulbs lit up the exact same way on each side of the car. Any thoughts?? Here is a pic of what it looked like:
The reason the oil from your fingers is bad for halogens and HID bulbs is that when the bulb reaches temperature, the oils can cause the glass to either crack or melt. The tiny bit of oil on the glass will cause stress during heat up. LED's do not get hot enough in that application to cause an issue. Perhaps in the future as LED's increase in output, we may see that problem. At this time, the heat mainly comes from the base on them.

Yeah I didn't think oil was an issue with these type of bulbs, but I figured I would ask just to be sure. I wonder why they are lighting up this way and in the exact same way on both sides?
Are you running a resistor and a harness for the LEDs...? If not that that's your problem.

Hmm, I guess that's it then, lol. Damn, I thought you could just plug the bulbs in and use them if you didn't care about having the drl light on, on the dash. I guess I will have to do the whole harness thing then. Thanks for your help.
The LEDs you have are not defective like you think. The DRL connectors supply very little voltage to the actual halogen bulbs so they light up very dim and not at full brightness. When you put your LED in there, it's receiving very little voltage therefore only half of your LEDs are actually getting lit up. I'm not 100% sure if what I just said is completely true, but I think it's something along those lines lol

I'm surprised your LEDs even lit up. When I tried to put my LEDs in, I got the DRL Error light and none of my 2 LED bulbs lit up. Even though both of your bulbs only lit up half of the LEDs, mines lit up nothing. Odd.
The Decoder / harness will solve the problem though.

Thats exactly your problem. LEDs in the DRL isn't as simple as every other LED swap on the car. You can't just swap out the old halogens and plug in LEDs and get them to come on at full power / full brightness.
