LED Lights for Interior of the Car
LED Lights for Interior of the Car
Hi everyone.
I was just curious, do any of you know if they sell LED white color lights for the TL? Im thinking of changing my lights inside, to LEDs? If so, can i get the brand/part # of what you use?
Thanks!

There's a thread on tec-toys right now... I think he's temporarility out of business due to his computer being stolen.
I have no idea why you guys pay tec-toys extra for the exact same LED's that he buys from www.superbrightleds.com... then marks up the prices.
Here they are for $1.95 each
921-x9 Wedge Base LED bulb

It's your money though...
Sure tec-toys offers a warranty (if you can reach him), so does superbrightleds... but I've never had a failure with the leds I'm using, so warranty has never been issue, see below:
Those 9 led clusters are garbage for our application though. There's no circuit board, so the led resistors are "suspended" in the plastic housing (you can see the "floating resistors in the pic). This is not a robust design and over time, the resistor wires "break". Folks that started using these in thier in license plate/trunk have had multiple failures due to this design flaw. The vibration and trunk slamming cause them to fail quickly. I personally wen through 3 before transitioning to the White High Power, and now the #4 autolumination.
Not only that, the 9 led cluster in white actually have a ugly purple tint.

The hands down best LED for interior lighting is...
Whitest, most pure light, no purple tint, and not prone to failure by design.
WLED-WHP Pure White High Power $4.95

9led cluster on the right, White High Power on the letf is on the left:
In the doors, I run the 12 led cluster in blue, to match the blue accents:
They're subject to the same design flaw, but seem to be better constructed. I've had them in the doors for over a year and haven't had an issue yet.

No fantom, noone has these LEDS installed. This is a DIY plud n play mod. Just pop the lens and plug these leds in.

hmm... how about the led cathodes - i understand they are different, as I used some tubed LEDs in my old car, but I had to take the side frames off to hide the wires... thats what I'm wondering about...

Are you refering to Cold Cathode tubes? There's a thread in the 3G garage on using those for license plate illumination, and one guy has them all over his footwells. That's a personal taste thing, do what you like, but you're not gonna fit cathode tubes in your overhead light fixtures. I'm making reccomendation for leds to go into those fixtures only... anythign much beyond that and you're pushing the rice envelope... but I'm old.

Hey, you F*cking Donkey, are you using these
exclusively in your TL for the dome lights? I have the WLED-x6 and I'm only somewhat satisfied by their luminosity. They have a nice color and they're nicer than stock, but they're just not bright enough. Besides, I think I want more of a white light than a blue light for the domes.

- 3 #5's in the vanity mirrors and trunk illum (you need the 90 degree shine down)
- 2 12 cluster leds in blue in the doors
- 2 white 72 "pin" leds in the glovebox and console

Yeah, I know what cathodes are, as I said, I know the difference between LEDs and cathodes... its just that some LEDs hat you use, such as tubes with wires giving it a CC look... instead of having the wires all over the place... i want to be neat abouti t, and hide them.
They CAN make your car riced out, but if you do it with taste, and style, you can have the showroom look... depends how you do it.
