I wasn't sure where to post this one up, so I decided the general 3rd gen TL forum would work fine. I recently installed LED interior accent lighting for lighting the floor of my car, however, the 3M adhesive that came with it is not working out for keeping them attached, and they keep falling down. I was wondering if anyone had any non-permanent solutions to making them stay, especially when they are above my pedals. Thanks!

 

Well hot glue might do it or small dabs of crazy glue.

 

Yeah I thought of that but I was thinking that that may be a bit too permanent.

i would actually suggest getting Command Hooks and taking the adhesive from there. It worked superbly in my opinion. i Had interior LED light strips in my Honda Accord Coupe and i have to say i never had a problem with them falling with those adhesives that came with them. Just make sure to clean the area with an interior cleaner like Lucas Interior Detailer or any other water based cleaner first. I could also agree with the hot glue as well because it wouldnt be hard to take off later down the line either. you just spray a little windex on the glue and pull it off with no mark that it was even there.

I like the black weather stripping glue-holds great & you can get off.

 

The "3M" tape that is usually on those strips are weak. Or sometimes if you've ordered them from Asia they aren't even really 3M even though they are printed with that.

I did my strips back in 2006 with the real 3M double sided tape. For the rear seats they are on the front edge of the bottom cushion. Even after all this time and numerous disassemblies of the car, with seat removal, for different reasons the strips have never budged! And it's not even the newer VHB stuff.
