Trade-in value

Was curious what some people's trade in value has been on their TL Type-S.

Thanking about getting rid of mine since the miles are climbing fast 160k+

Vehicle is in fair shape has some cosmetic damage and will need a new drivers seat bottom and possibly passengers as well.

Automatic, KBP, Type-S, 2007, 160k miles, no modifications. Of course I did the KBB but i want real world offers.

Anyways just wondering if I get an offer how much i can expect to barter with them, also its 100% paid off so the equity is positive and will go straight to the value of the next car.

Im debating between another Type-S, TSX, or similar size vehicle.

why the heck get rid of it??
because it has 160k? sounds like an excuse to me!! only to get into a very similar car....(why?) your reasoning ISNT very sound....

it's only worth what some one is willing to pay for it. Supply and demand, my friend...so, if you know KBB(which you do) price it as such, then if no bites....LOWER price....

Trade price will vary depend on your region and over condition of the car, I remember back in 2013 my local dealer willing to buy my 07 TL-S with 82k miles on the clock and their price was $10k under (normal condition). I got a good laugh and told them "sorry the car is not for sale nor I am intended to trade it in for any crappy looking 4g TL"

I would say dealer trade in will be in the $3500 to $5500 ball park and reason I said this because I had seen many TL around that mile sold around $8000 - $10k. You will get more money if you decide to sell the car your self, I would say the price is around $8500 to $10000 depend on the actual condition of the car and if you get the right buyer. Most of the buyer are low baller/ tire kicker you offer reasonable price (let say $9k) and they be like well I can do $7500 cash. GTFO but I normally try to be polite told them they would find a better deal with that "cash" price and have fun.

I'll chime in since I traded in my 2005 Acura TL 3 months ago with 242,xxx miles on it.
It got hit a few weeks before I traded it in with a scuff mark on the bumper, but with the mileage that high, the dealer didn't really care.

I think KBB had it around $2000 but the Volvo dealer gave me $1200.

Okay, thank you for your input you guys. Im not in a bind to sell it and have a secondary vehicle (95 XJ im slowing doing work to and i love it) so i may throw it online and see what i can get.

Justnspace- I want a different vehicle and the TL has lasted me through college and then some so I know all the little issues that I dont like anymore. Also, I want a newer vehicle with 10-20k miles. With the value I can still get out of the TL and downpayment I can get a reasonable affordable, reliable vehicle. I doubt Id get another 3G though, they are just simply getting old in terms of age. I love the style and think they look just as good as new vehicles but I want a warranty and the other perks of have a low milage, new car. I really want to get rid of it before the millage and age affect the value too much.

truonghthe- I think you are right that the dealer is going to low ball me too much and id be better off private party. Like i said to Justnspace im not in a hurry or anytting so ill see who bites I suppose. Thank you for giving me some info

Dang and I thought I was getting low balled at $3000 offer for my 04TL with 145,000 at the time. Granted everything in my car works as it should just has some scratches on it. I was never actually going to trade the car in. I owe more on it than that lol I just wanted to test drive this car and let them appraise it while I was there.

Problem with these cars is while they are sought after by some dealers for resale (there is a demand) the problem is age and mileage. At 9-10 years old and +100k mi its a hard sale for branded dealers to make any money for the exact reasons you are noting why you want out. Best bet to start with a listing here or local Craigslist. Personally I dont like craigslist for cars people are too shady but quite a few I have spoken to have had success in both buying and selling I have not.

Good luck

Don't trade it in. I work in the dealership. We will give you 6k towards a trade it. My TLS is a 08 with 90k we gave the customer 7.5k for it. Not worth it just sell your car you can easily get 10k for it.

I also find the more expensive the car you are looking at the more they will offer. For example, here you are looking at a new car and also its an Acura. If you take the car to a Ford dealership and want to trade it for a used cheaper vehicle they will probably offer you less since there is less room for them to make money on the next car and chances are they will have a harder time fixing and selling a car from another brand. Just what I have found, YMMV.
