LED DRLs - No battery connection needed

Amazon.com: 9005 HB3 CREE LED Plasma Projector bulbs 11W Daytime Running Light DRL: Automotive Amazon.com: 9005 HB3 CREE LED Plasma Projector bulbs 11W Daytime Running Light DRL: Automotive

I have not seen these mentioned (I tried searching).
I have seen similar but everyone seems to be using iJDMToys battery harness.

I installed these yesterday and they work. Seem pretty bright. I have no error on my dash and these inline decoders do not require being connected to battery or grounded.
Less than $60 shipped and I received them next day in California.

The pictures were taken at 9pm in California.

Nice find, a alternative option to the VLED 10XB bulbs.

Your amazon ones look pretty bright. It would be nice to see a picture comparison side-by-side with the 850 lumen 10XB VLED ones.

Do they look like they have a hint of purple? Most CREE LEDs I've seen always had a tinge of purple in the light output. Far from pure white 5k. Your pictures look nice and bright though I wonder how many lumens they are rated

I do not notice any purple, they are rated 6000K according to the specs on the site and look less blue that I thought they would. The description says CREE (also GREE) but none of my packaging said anything about CREE.
The pic on amazon says 11w (~750 lumens).

OP, I know you just got these recently, but how are they holding up so far? Any flickering that you've noticed or has the CEL come on? I'm thinking about getting a set.

the harness is simple a load resistor to eliminate dash light. this harness does not come with a relay to the battery like the ijdmtoy one. should be fine with this led, but running higher powered LEDs may require a relay harness

No flickering (that I have noticed) at all. Its been about 1 week and they are still working fine. I got the drl light during install on purpose (I wanted to see where the DRL light was located) and it went away once the install was complete. No CEL at all.
For the price and convenience I will definitely suggest these.

np.

If you do decide on these let us know what you think about them as well.

EDIT: I was wondering how long the ijdmtoy lights lasted before they took a crap? Also, was it the lights or the decoder?

I think those are for the fogs (H11) and would need to be modified to fit the 9005 (HB3) socket to be used as DRL.

I might be wrong, though.

@hgigh - the ijdm drl's only lasted a couple months, then my driver side drl started flickering and staying off and became temperamental. No CEL or dash lights came on. So in trouble shooting with the drl's on, the connections where the relay is were loose and didn't want to mess with it so I removed it.

I think I'll try these out as well. They're a higher temp than my headlights, but my DRL's aren't on at the same time.

Thanks for the update and pics!

I agree that it is enough of a change from the brown/orange of the halogens.
