LED DRL's lower grille

Please excuse my crude photoshop skills, but I hope the idea comes across. I'm thinking of installing LED's in the lower grille, not the strip but individual bulbs with reflectors. Which design if any do you think looks best?

Outer corner with last light lower then rest

Inside corner with first light lower then rest

Straight outer corner

Straight inner corner

Most of the time, these LED's follow the form of the car or the curvature of the portion of the car they're accenting (see Mercedes or Audi lights). To me, the 4 examples you've offered are "abstract". What if you followed the inner edge of the lower grill-either the top or the bottom part of the grill?

I double this statement.
I always wondered how it would look as well...
Especially on the o7base/type-s models [since the fog area curves up/down].

True, they don't have any relationship to the car, too random.

I have mine installed as position #3 and really like them that way- they integrate with the lines of the car pretty well. The LED are visible from front and side because of the curve in the grill. So many cars are using LEDs that it's no longer an Audi thing anymore: Porsche, MB, BMW are a few brands that come to mind. I saw an Lexus LS with LEDs the other day for the first time and it looked pretty good.

Thank you for the comments and suggestions everyone. I know Audi started this whole LED movement years ago, but I feel it's a direction many other manufacturers are/will be taking. LEd's offer some advantages over the traditional drl's bulbs and in countries where daytime running lights are mandatory, such as Canada, I'm sure you'll see more and more models being offered with such options. I read that ford and gm in Europe will also be adding led lights straight from the factory so I guess it's only a matter of time before they make their way here.

OK, so is this more in line with the relation to the flow of the car? I believe there is a minimum height in which drl's must be from the ground and seeing as my car is lowered during the summer I don't want the lights to low in the grille as to attract the law. Oh, I will be disabling my factory drl and running these led's in their place.

Thank you again, please keep the comments and suggestions coming.

Nice. That's more like it.
Have you considered having it curve up, while on the bottom?
I know you said lights need to be a certain distance above the ground 'cause of DRL laws... But it doesn't really attract that much attention. I drive without my DRLs on. [I modded them so that I can turn on my DRLs on anytime I want, thus making them aux-fogs as well].

I think it would look pretty nice if it was more of a "L" and was at the lower-outer-bottom corner.

If I had to pick one, I'd go with Outside 2. BTW, do you have pics of the actual LEDs you'll be using? Does it have to be only 5? I think a couple more would look better.

I usually get an e-boner whenever I see new LED mods in threads, but all options here leave me flaccid.

I like the outside 2. Inside kinda looks outta place. What size LEDs do you plan on using?

LOL DeathMetal, maybe you have an different idea? The options are not limited to the ones above.

These are the lights I'll be using. They come in strings of 5 to 8 lights with or without position lights. These puppies are bright as sin but require custom install.

Look, my man...it's your car all to how you mod your car, so do it to YOUR tastes. The vote shows an overwhelming consensus that this will not look good in the eyes of your AZine peers, and honestly, I don't see a single array that would look good.

I plan on doing some LED mods to the headlights, some may like it, some may not, but I plan on doing it either way. Bottom line is that you should be able to answer the following question, without hesitation: Am I doing this because I like it, or because others will like it?

Well I'm hardly doing this to please people, I understand the decision is ultimately mine. The thread is to generate thoughts and discussion and hopefully new ideas and possibilities. I value peoples comments and thoughts and will take them into consideration.
Good luck with your headlight install, I considered that as well but didn't feel it would achieve the level of light I'm looking for in a drl. As a side note I caught Tiesto last year in Toronto, great show.

Here are a few install pics of the lights.

Dang, those look hot. Kinda reminds me of the Mercedes E Class. Notice it's shape contours to the lower grill.

Well, go for it then, my man. Those are probably from the Luxeon Star series...pretty intense LEDs, suffice to say. I don't think it will look all that great, BUT...I have eaten my words a few times on things like this, honestly, I hope it looks great.

My third show, I am so goddamn psyched that I am having trouble concentrating at work, for reals.
