I will be going on vacation for about 2.5 weeks. I was wondering if its okee to just leave my car in the garage for that period of time?

You worry about "flatspotting" or battery??

I never have any problem with battery while in 2-3 weeks vacation.

Just hire some 16 year old from your neighborhood to drive your car every day you are gone.....

I know you are being funny, but your comment reminded me of a time when I was 16-17 and my best friend worked for one of the nicest bosses in the world. His boss loaned him his 1954 yellow BuickCentury convertible on a Saturday evening to cruise around San Francisco. We actually drove the car up to the Russian River, about 70 miles north of SF and almost totaled the car, in a near-accident. Luckily we got the car back without a scratch on it. I still remember that car over 40 years later. So if you want a teenager to remember you forever, well you know what to do.

If you are so worried, disconnect the battery. I did that on all my cars if I had gone for more than 3 weeks on vacation.

I bought my 04TL6MT in November and 2 weeks later I left for vacation. I parked the car in an unheated garage for almost 7 weeks. Just parked it there and left - not plugged in or anything. You have to realize that where I live the temperature was around -20C for most of the time I was gone except for about the last week that I was gone - it got colder. I arrived home January 1, 2004 and it was -42C at the airport. I went into the garage where I stored the car, put in the key and turned it - voila! No problem at all - she started like a sweet kitten purring. I let it warm up for about 3 minutes then drove it home.

The tires were a little bumpy at first but that is normal in this temperature. I have never experienced flat spotting other than this time. I do have the Dynamic Package and that does come with different tires - oh - the tires I had on at the time were winter tires - Blizzak's.

Cheers!

I have read from somewhere that you should do the following if you plan to garage your car for a month or longer:

1)disconnect the battery to prevent parasitic draining
2)place car on 4 jack stands to precent flat spotting
3)completely fill the gas tank to reduce condensation problems

However, I am not sure if step 2 is really necessary but it food for thought.

You could also buy a $20 trickle charger and leave it connected to the battery. Then you will have a fully charged battery when coming home and you won't have to reset your clock, radio etc.

Don't forget to install a webcam, so you can check on it once in a while when you miss it...

Because of my occupation, I'm always leaving for weeks at a time, and I just make sure that the gas tank is filled and have never had any problem with the battery draining down. The items that draw off the battery are such low current draw that it would take quite a long time to drain the battery down with the car at a normal temperature...now for that guy in Canada, it's amazing that the battery survived at such low temperatures....I guess that goes to prove that the battery draw is pretty low.
