Leather Seat Strategy

I am taking my car into the dealer Friday to look at my driver's seat.

The foam beneath the leather has shifted in a bizarre way so the seat
is misshapen. I want them to repair/replace under warranty.

This began almost immediately, and the car is 5 months old.

Does anybody have any advice as to what to say to the dealer so
that they rectify this with minimal effort and grief?

Rachel, check out the following post
Butt Prints
and as you can see a number of the folks on the forum have it. May not be to same degree as yours, but nonetheless, most of forum members have had them replaced by the dealers. I believe most of the dealers are aware of this defect and you should have no problems with them.

Rachel, also check out this thread. The 2005 seats have an additional stitch, compared to the 2004. This may help in your attempt to get your seats recovered.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ght=seats+2005

Can you please clarify what you mean by misshapen? Are you refering to the "buttprints" everyone seems to have or is there something else going on?

seats

Sorry, I can't post a picture.

I am sure my problem is related to the previously mentioned 'butt print'
issue, however the way my seat is misshapen is more square and angular
like. It is definitely not in the shape of my butt! It almost looks like the
foam in the seat has shifted.

Do you think there is a chance they'll replace for the 2005 type seat ?

I'd certainly suggest they do that... I see you're from the 'Burgh (as am I). Where did you get your car? Mine is from Spitzer and they have been very accomodating. It seems as though they will take care of you if there is something wrong.

2005 TL - only 200 miles... no butt prints yet.... Here's crossing my fingers.

I have some issues with leather starting to crack (at almost 9,000 miles and less than 4 months old car) But I am not going to change the seats until I am close to warranty end, basically around 50,000 miles. By that time I will "find" something wrong with the passenger seat so they will be forced to change both seats. I hope Acura will be out of '04 style seats by then and they will do a straight seat change to .05 style seats.

I agree. If you can only do it once, for some dumb reason, then wait til the end of the warranty.

I wonder if Acura has a bunch of left over '04 leathers just laying around, cause they aren't going to make a replacement set, case by case?

GOod move, let hope they run out of 04 seats by then, *L*. Maybe they will have 06 or 07 seats in stock, improved even more.

I went to the dealership this morning on this.

They are going to order new seat covers, foam and heaters. I asked if they'd replace with
2005 seats and they said they aren't allowed to do this. There was no mention of an only
once in 50K/warranty period limitation.

They were very nice and accommodating, and gave me a loaner TSX since they are going to
take apart my dash to find the source of a rattle.

It's a hot butt issue?

I have never used my seat heaters. I live in Florida. I don't have "butt print" problems.

Do you think there might be a connection between the seat heaters and butt prints?

Is there anyone here who has not used their seat heaters but has butt prints anyway?

I will be getting my 2005 NBP/Camel 5AT Navi with A-Spec Body Kit this Wednesday. I live near Pittsburgh and will be using my car seat heaters regulary. I will provide a commentary on the "profile" of my seats over the next few months.

Who knows - maybe Elvis or Marilyn Monroe's profile will show up!?

Even though I'm in Pittsburgh, I bought my car in late May, so I haven't had the opportunity
to use the seat heaters yet . . .
