Question

so I've been waiting for like 7 days now (i know it's not that long compared to some of you other guys)..for my car to come in, but I've been calling the dealership (KEYES) every day now asking either if it's come in or where it currently is...especially cause someone else on this board told me that his car came in (downey) yesterday and cause I called and he said it was already in California...so, basically my questions are

1.) do you think it bugs them...or do you think they are used to people calling daily to check up on the status of the car?
2.) do you think it's just one big rig truck carrying all the cars..or mutiple big rig trucks carrying mutiple cars..and they are all different shipments
3.) and I live in So Cal, and I know the truck(s) are already in the So Cal area, so what could be the reason for it taking over a day to travel within CA?

sorry if i sound whiney, but I'm just so excited to get my TL, I think about it at least once every 20 minutes ever since i signed my papers..

they should have online tracking for pre-ordered cars..

All good things come to those who wait. I had to wait an extra week, knowing the car was just sitting there because my car was a swap from a dealer in NJ. Needless to say, the dealer in NJ sent my dealer the title without notarizing it. (Some stupid out-of-state law) Sent it by regular mail no less. So back it went to get notarized and sent back so my dealer can register the car and get my plates.

BTW, I went to pick up the car myself. I made it perfectly clear on this point.

When I purchased mine from Keyes it took 10 days to arrive. So you may have a few more days yet, depending upon the weather and other delivery stops. They'll need a few hours for prepping. Make sure to tell your salesman to not put on the front license plate. If I had known about the Build Sheet , I would've asked for it too.

Congrats!

Waiting for a new car is painfully pleasurable. Enjoy!

When Keyes prepped my car they drilled a third hole in the bumper. Had I requested that they not install the license plate, I could've avoided this by beforehand. Also they didn't provide me with the plugs until I asked.

Is that hole required to mount the license plate? I was under the impression that all of the dealers in cali were legally supposed to mount the front plates, since it is required by law that you have them.

The third hole is not required. Keyes drilled a small hole at the top to hold the plate snug to the bumper.

I'm not an expert on the law but I believe they have to provide you with the mounting frame/bracket. That doesn't mean they have to install it. Since you have the temporary registration stuck on your window, I can't imagine why it would be illegal to drive frame free.

Are you expected to drive around for the next 6 weeks with an empty frame or worse yet, provide free advertising for the dealer?

I appeal to others on this forum who may be more knowledgable in this area. Are California dealers legally required to mount the license frame?
