LEASE Question..Removing Mods

My 04 6MT Tl has 6 months left with me before I turn her in. I want to take my AEM CAI out to sell and put back the stock. Can I just put in the top portion without the resonator portion of the intake??? I know there was a divet removed that held the two together...Do you think they will charge me??? How should I do it.

Also had the mid pipe removed and replaced with straight pipe. Should I have the mid pipe re welded on???

Mufflers I replaced...will have them weld them back on and keep my aftermarket mufflers for my next car.

Opinions please, especially those who have dealt with Honda/Acura Leases!
Thanks

Do you still have that package you got from Honda when you leased your car? I think it explained what/how they charge... AFAIK, you'll most likely be charged for non OEM/Acura-approved (i.e. comptech) parts.

Most companies charge you for the missing OEM part as well as labor for both removal and installation.

That is why I am going to put all the stock pieces back in. I just want to know if the resonator is gone...and or the midpipe if they will care?

If they find it, yes. Whether they find it depends on how well they look the car over, but my guess would be they'll find it.

Doesnt Acura and other dealerships for that matter run diagnostics or something of that nature on the ECU to see if the engine was functioning differently and if it was outputting extra horsepower? Can't they claim that you have voided engine warranty and make you buy the car? If so Im staying as far away from mods as possible and if not supercharger here I come ... Anyone?

I am not sure about Acura/Honda, but when I turned my BMW in, they just gave it a once over on the exterior and interior and only paid special attention to the tires/rims, windshield and lower part of the bumpers where they can scrape curbs. Even the special attention areas was basically a visual look over. After that, I signed the papers handing liability back over to them and was on my way. They never looked under the hood or under the car at all.

When I turned in my wifes Civic many years back, the dealer didn't even look at it. They had some guy look the car over, he gave me some papers and I dropped the car off a the Dealer with the papers.

I would assume that the paperwork you signed includes some legalese to the affect of "the car is returned in OEM/stock condition and by signing this you are claiming this. If we find otherwise later, you will be charged according to the original lease terms." I have never leased so I don't know, but I can't imagine a dealership opening themselves up to that much potential risk.

So am I good to go with an intake/exhaust if Im that much of a moron to dump the money in? Or would the rest of this AZ population be more reserved about it ... My friend is getting a G35 coupe 6Speed, even though I eat them by 2 car lengths I still want a nice edge

I wonder if the stock intake can even be put back together. I know I pretty much destroyed mine - didn't have a drill handy...

Anyway, I'd return everything to stock just to be safe... doesn't sound like it'll cost too much money or time in your case.

I think people here are assuming these guys care more than they do. I have turned in 3 Maxima's (two with Mods) and nothing was ever held against me. You schedule an appointment for the "once over" about 2-3 months before the end of the lease. They check out the inside and outside, but don't really go over it with a fine-toothed comb. They are more concerned with cigarette burns on the inside and oversized dings and warn tires on the outside. I have never even had them start the car.

If they find something they are not okay with, you will likely have the opportunity to rectify it on your own and have it re-inspected. That is how Nissan works. I am sure Honda is the same.

Don't spend the money until you try to pass inspection first!
