Front bumper damage -

I rear ended someone and damaged the front bumper of my 2006 TL. It needs to be replaced along with the grill trim. Should I have an Acura dealer do the body work. First time having body work done and not too sure what is an appropriate price. Trying not to submit a claim to insurance. The first estimate I thought was ridiculous. $2,300. Was told that the front left and right head lamps need to be replaced. That cost $1,100 for both. I looked at them and they still work perfectly, are not loose and there are no cracks.

The impact point from the accident was right on my license plate (NJ resident). Airbags didn't deploy. I don't understand how the headlights would get damaged.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

welcome to the forums, and sorry to hear about ur TL. Anyway, can you show us pictures of the damage? The car may have suffered frame damages due to the ACE construction of the TL.

are you comfortable doing the work yourself? if its just the bumper, its not really body work. I don't consider parts that you can simply unbolt and remove 'body work' anyway. you can probably go to the blackmarket here or ebay and find a used OEM bumper, get it painted and ur good to go. My other car is a NBP TSX and i had some damage too. I bought it on ebay, had it painted for $250. total costs for everything shipped then painted was a little over $500.

re: ur headlights... i really doubt that they were damaged. take a look at them and see if they seem crooked to the hood line, and also see if they are loose. unless you really hit this guy hard, im sure you would also notice damage underneath to the styrofoam padding and radiator area.
