Lease 08 or wait for 09?
i'm looking at the 08 TL-s. test drove an auto and loved it.
the lease specials are very good. MF is .00081... with virutally nothign down I could walk away with a payment of $450. trade in my POS crap box and get about 3-4k for it and I'd be hoving around 300-350/month. not bad for a slick car like a TL-s.
the sales guy, however, said the 09s are coming and would be on the lot by march or april. if that's the case, and like the hype says,t hey are SH-AWD and have more power.... and are all new... then it woule suck to lease for 36 months a car that becomes "dated" almost immediately.
i also wonder if the deals will get even sweeter once the 09s hit the lot.
sometimes hoever, the deals are sweet for a bit, then revert back to not sweet. right now it's sweet. but could it get sweeter?
the 09s will for sure cost more, and they will not be wheeling and dealing on theml ke they areon 08s....so i'd pay more for sure, but SH-AWD on a TL would rock.
my get says take the deal on the 08 and enjoy it for a few years, then upgrade to whatever is hot then.
what do you allt hink?

I think you should follow your gut. By the time the lease is up, *some* if not *all* of the bugs should be worked out and like VQ said, the new S should be out.
True, the deals could get better on the outgoing 08's but you also have to factor in getting the exact car you want in the preferred exterior color/interior & tranny configuration that you like. The longer you wait, the probablility is less that you'll get exactly what you want.
Good luck w/ your decision and keep us posted.

If you need a car now, then go for the '08, especially with the lease deals, and wait until the bugs are worked out of the 4G TL.

if you wait until the 09 comes out, deals on the 08 will be much cheaper, but then you'll be driving a car that already has a successor. the SH-AWD part is just a rumour, nothings definite, and the 09 i would think has similar power to the 08 TL-S.
I say, wait until the 09 comes out,if you dont like it, but the 08, but youll be risking some of the newness of the car as well as resale value, but since you're leasing, i dont think that matters.

I'm actually in the same shoes as you, but I've decided to go with 08 Type - S, should be picking it up tomorrow.
On the 4G cars, there will be a ridiculous high lease offer, as this is a brand new shape, design and if you think about it, it's a whole new car.
So I say if you can make it economical for yourself with 08 Type - S, then do it

Go with the '08. It's a pretty good deal.
I think you're sales guy is full of crap. There is NO indication of a mid-year release on the 4G TL. All rumor/speculation thus far is next fall.
There is no confirmation on the specs. SH-AWD is likely, but there is a BIG question about power. Looks are also up in the air.
As mentioned, the 4G TL-S will *probably* come out a couple of MY's after the initial release. That's been the pattern, so if you want to go 3G TL-S to 4G TL-s a lease now would put you pretty close. And by then the new model bugs will be on their way out.
I don't the 3G styling will age quite as fast as the 2G did. It should still look good in a few years.

If you're right (I hope you are) then I'm jumping the gun. My lease is up in a month.
