The latest in the price WAR!

'04 TL, Automatic, Navigation ---> must be ordered or traded for.

Their initial offer: MSRP. Sticker.

The second offer: $34,175.49 including $545 destination charge.

My offer: $33,648.70 including $545 destination charge.

The difference between invoice and MSRP is $3075.00. I've offered them $1528.70 more than invoice, which is equivalent to 4 % over invoice. TMV (True Market Value - Edmunds.com) for this vehicle is $34,048. Intellichoice.com recommends a target price of $33,750.

I tried negiotiating the residual value, but I believe it is set in stone for this month. 56 %. And the money factor is .0022, which is equivalent to 5.3 % interest rate.

Out of pocket cost? Security deposit waived, which I knew they could do, so my wife's note will be roughly $517.35 before taxes, without anything down (the whole purpose of the lease).

Good/Bad? Comments, please!

i got my Anthracite/Ebony/6MT/Navi for $33,695

since 6MT are more rare than the 5AT, you should get a cheaper figure than me

Pricey lease

:chainsaw:

I've leased my last 4 cars (a Volvo, an Infiniti and 2 Saabs). Getting ready to buy a 5AT Nav TL. To me, leasing only makes sense when the money factor is subvented so low by the manufacturer as to make it a giveaway.

In this case, your wife will spend $18,624 plus taxes and "bank fee" to rent a $34K car, presumably for 3 years and 36,000 miles. For a slightly higher payment she could own it in 2 additional years.

For comparison purposes, I did a sweet lease 3 years ago on a 2001 Saab 9-5 SE V6: MSRP $40.5K, cap cost $32K (no contribution on my part), 15,000 miles a year, 36 months, monthly payment $409 plus tax. Residual $18K, would not have gotten killed if I decided to buy it at lease-end, but fell in love with the TL instead.

No way to touch that kind of lease deal with a TL. That's why I'm buying this time!

Ouch. I'm paying $625 (nothing down, taxes additional) for three years on a $46K BMW. My previous TL-S Navi was $530 including 6% tax for only 30 months. The price you're quoting seems awfully high.

I got a quote recently for a auto\navi at $34,700, price included destination. I didn't negotiate because I'm still at least a month from buying, but my gut told me they'd go to $34,000.

I compiled the following prices that people posted from a couple of other threads. All are navi but not sure if destination or other options were in their prices;

man navi 33,000
navi -700 msrp
auto navi 33,200
man navi 33,700
man navi 34,400
auto navi 33,300
auto navi 32,800
auto navi 36,200
man navi -2000 msrp
man navi 33,000
auto navi 34,700
navi -1200 msrp
man navi 33,700

Good luck!

Bottom line....where you live you're going to pay more. Keep in mind, COL if higher there and they have a business to run and should expect to make money.

Don't worry about percentages and all that crap. The only thing you need to ask yourself if whether you think this car is worth what they are asking for it. If not, offer less and walk away if they don't accept. If so...just enjoy the ride!

Would you mind telling me which dealers you got that quote from? I'm about to start shopping for a NBP/Ebony 5ATw/NAV for my wife. $33.2k is a bit less than I was expecting to get, so I would be very pleased with that price. You can email or PM me if you like. I'd appreciate it.

Has anyone used the AAA pre-negotiated deals anywhere with any success? I'm looking to get a new car right away. Possibly this weekend. Depends on how things go with the insurance adjuster looking at my old car.

Anyone else on LI who got a good deal please post youir info for the rest of us. Thanks for any help you can provide. Don't forget to wave to other TLers.

5.4% rate factor is very high, check into the Chase balloon purchase plan which someone posted yesterday had a 2.99% rate for 42 mos. Adding taxes to the $517 brings you past $550 (depending on tax rate).

I just got a 5AT for $425 for 47months w/balloon, no money down.

I see those balloon deals so often in the Post. Do you plan to finance the balloon payment as well or pay it off??

BTW, some of the lease payments being posted on this thread sound like apartment rents. I personally have a $425/mo threshold.

I paid $34,700 for an SSM Auto/Nav that was on the dealer lot. Their initial offer was MSRP, mine was $34,040 (Edmunds TMV).

They were willing to give me TMV if I would take one of the five white/parchment models on the lot, but not for the SSM (the only one they had).

if it was the only one they had (ie. on the lot too) wouldn't they want to unload that as well?

Well yes, but they knew that if I didn't buy it there was someone right behind me who would. They got the SSM on Tuesday, I bought it on Thursday. Given the demand for SSM's there wasn't much incentive for them to bargan.
