You using those "quick connects aka scotchlocks" to make the connections?

Almost every issue expereinced here was due to those damn clips. DON'T USE THEM.
Report back when that's done.

JD TL-S, everything is good to go. The instructions work and the vendor is a sponsor here.

Our site is NOT a secure site, but we don't accept payments through it, so that shouldn't be an issue (payments are handled via Paypal or check).
If the windows are raising slightly I would still remove the yellow wire, that is a sign of it not being hooked up correctly.
Are you only pushing the 'LOCK' button twice? You need to press it, wait about 1 second, and then press it again. If you press it twice quickly it will NOT work.

On the timing side you must:
1. Press and release 'LOCK' button
2. Wait between 0.8 - ~1.5 seconds
3. Press and release 'LOCK' button a second time.
4. Wait.
Do NOT hold the 'LOCK' button down. You must press and release it each time.

I will definetly solder everything I am anal about any quick fix I don't have any equipement to check the wires b4 doing install. So I will just cut, splice, twist, solder, tape, and check to se if it works b4 putting door back together.
So when I order, just tell them about this site to get a discount? How long to get to Northern IL. Thankyou for your help Jeff D.

Hey Kpierson...
I just wanted to thank you for such a great product... I've had it installed for over a year now and it's still functioning great... Also, thank you for such a quick response to my issue the other day... you were right... I just had to do a hard restart to the unit...

The lead to intermittent connections because:
1) The metal "bite" backs out
2) they're aluminum, aluminum to metal exposed to the elements will corrode.
3) they make 1 square mm of contact, vs. a solid 2-3 square cm with a copper to copper with solder connection.
ALWAYS... coper to copper with solder. That way, when it comes to trouble shooting you'll never have to question "the connections".

If you use the correct size for the wire splice they can be somewhat reliable. The problem is that most people can't size them correctly, and that leads to problems.
Another issue, espeically with KPtech products, is that our wires are typically bigger then the OEM wire, espeically with the key cylinder output. All of our wires are 20ga, and most key cylinder wires are 22ga. The scotchlocks are designed to work with two wires the same size, as they have the V cut in to them that is supposed to center on the wire. If the wire isn't big enough, it won't center.
Also, cars introduce two factors that can't be ignored - vibration and moisture. Both of these will severely limit the life span of a scotchlock.

I had timing issues at first too. This is what helped me out.
With your thumb on your remotes LOCK button, think like you have the key in the drivers door lock and are rolling the windows up that way. I will actually turn my hand twice(the one holding the remote) just like I would be doing if I had my key in the lock. With each turn, hit the LOCK button.
Of course it helps if you have actually rolled up the windows with the key a few times to know the rhythm.

I installed mine a year ago with the quickclips and it works greeat. the trick is to ensure a good connection with them, use the heatshrink wraps over the quickconnects so that they cannot move. Or even electrical tape it up very tight and you'll be fine, i'm going to install it in my brothers sometime this week and thats my plan.

Just because 1-2 folks chime in saying "thier clips are working great"... doesn't mean they're great.
Remove the clips and it'll probably work again.

I don't know where I've been, but for some reason I haven't seen this thread before. Maybe I should start browsing around more. This sounds like a good mod and simple too. I might have to invest in this in the near future.
One question though, I was going through some of the posts and noticed the talk about doing a hard reset on the device. Is this something that should be done every so often? I would prefer to minimize the number of times I remove my door panels.

I recieved your Email, but ignored it because of the Email domain name (warezzhq.com) and because we don't have any products that are referred to as "KB". I assumed that that was actually a spam Email, my appologies.
A few quick questions - are you holding down the 'lock' button? You MUST release the lock button each time you push it, do NOT hold it down.
Are you pushing the 'lock' button ONLY twice? The correct sequence is:
1. Push and release "LOCK" button
2. Wait approximately 1 second
3. Push and release "LOCK" button
4. Wait approximately 3-4 seconds before windows start moving.

1) a shaky connection
2) bad timing
if you hear the alarm chirp, you probably have timing right... please check your connections and make copper to copper connections.

From memory, I don't believe a sound is made. I don't have a TL so it's hard for me to say.
I will shoot you an Email later today about returning the module for a warranty inspection. It doesn't sound like the module is faulty (typically, when they are bad they don't work at all). Intermittent issues are almost always caused by people not pushing the buttons correctly, people not waiting long enough, or a bad connection.

Just installed my module. Worked perfectly on the first try. I used wire nuts and electrical tape as opposed to those crimp things. I don't like those... I think they'd be pretty flakey.
I used double sided 3M tape and stuck the module to the inside of the outer metal door panel. I decided not to stick it onto the top of the styrofoam block. That way it would remain relatively hidden for the most part.
BTW, KP, I was able to resolve the shipping problem (clearly).
