Thanks waacow. Since we are on the topic, lembowski should be given some credit as well since he was the guinea pig for the first install.

I'm just glad I can help out. I learn so much here that its great that I can give back to the community. So its my pleasure!

Good luck to all future installers. On a scale of 1 to 10, I think this install is a 2. Very doable (even for you xtin ) and of course if you run into problems, a lot of members here that are willing to help.

Quick questions... I confess I didn't read all 5 pages of the thread.

Does this module work at any time or is it only active within a certain time frame of turning off the car? Meaning, say I pull in the driveway, leave the windows down, and lock the car. Then a couple hours later it starts to rain. I should just be able to put up all the windows and close the sunroof from inside my house with two clicks of the remote. Correct??

It's within a timeframe. But you could always unlock the car, then press the button in sequence to get them to go up

I didn't think there was a timeframe and you could just double tap the lock anytime and they window would wind up - exactly for reasons posted or for those hot days where you want the windows down but then a storm blows in and gotta wind 'em up.

I think as long as you tap the lock button twice within a certain time, it should work

I'm not aware of any timeframe. I don't own a TL so it may be different on them. On both my G35 and my Accord sedan I can put the windows up at any time with two clicks of the 'LOCK' button on the remote.

Just installed my module and worked the first time. Thanks goes out to everybody who contributed to this thread regarding this install (fast4dr, datmrman, kevin at KP and everybody else). This mod is definitely worth it! Also just wanted to comment that I have to hit the button 3 times to get the module going (two beeps). I did in fact try different timing sequences after the initial door lock but it just works after I hear the second "beep". No worries...just means extra confirmation! Thanks everybody...

Mine just arrived in today's mail, so I'm looking forward to putting it in this weekend. Thanks to this thread, I have no reservations about opening the door and tapping the wires.

There is a slight delay before the windows start moving. Hit your 'lock' button, wait 1s, hit it again, and then wait. The windows should go up without a 3rd pulse. Good job on the install!

Is it possible to get a remote start made for an auto tl to use the stock remote. Setting up a sequence like lock, lock, lock?

The possibility is there, but the range/reliability of most OEM remotes isn't. There isn't much point having a remote start operate off of your OEM remote if your OEM remote only has a range of 35'.

That being said, if you are satisfied with your range there are companies that make remote starts that integrate with OEM remotes, based off of a settable amount of pulses. An alternative to that would be to get a remote start that allows a (-) activation input and trigger it yourself with a pulse based module.

I stand corrected! Thanks kevin...due to my own impatience, I failed to notice it! Checked it out right now...goes up with only 2 pulses thanks again for the input. If you didn't tell me, I'd probably wear out my battery from constantly pressing the thing over and over again!

Would you happen to know a name of one? I would like this for the winter, the range doesnt bother me (my previous car had 1 mile range). I only work 25' from my car, and the same at my house.

I know at one point DEI made a unit compatible with the OEM remote, I know a guy who bought it and I almost installed it.

OK we got it all hooked up but the lock button on the key fob wont work. It wont work on the actual door panel either. Unlock works from the fob/door but

You must had one of the wires hooked up wrong. Look at the first picture and at waacow's post on page 5. Just recheck everything. If it all looks ok, disconnect the harness from the kp module and reconnect, that happened to me one time.

Also make sure that the lock pin isn't binding on something.

OK, the doors lock if we use the lock pin on the top of the panel OR if we use the lock/unlock button . Also, if we hit the lock button (not pin) twice, it will roll up the windows.

Its just not synching up with my fob for some reason.
Any ideas?

I've found that the timing of the double click on the fob can be tricky. Does your fob lock the doors at all? Forget about the window close for now.

If it does, do one click wait a second or two, and then click again. You should hear a beep from the car and the locks lock a second time, a slight delay and the windows will go up.

If that doesn't work and you're SURE that the wires are right (which they probably are since it works from the unlock button), squeeze all the connectors again and try it.

I guess I never really noticed that the doors needed to be closed. Well, what was weird was that it would UNLOCK but not lock from the fob. But, yeah the door pin (the metal with green plastic piece) wasnt connected all the way either so that could have been the main problem. At first the door was open and then the connection was bad.
Anyways, works fine now!

THANKS

great! I think this is about the coolest mod! I show people this and they are amazed. They always say, why don't all cars have this?

And that cable with the green part is only for the interior door handle, I know cause when I did it I didn't connect it properly and I couldn't open the door from the inside!

Xtin, my fingers are still bleeding from trying to get that one white connector out. OMFG. Advice: push that clip in and use a flathead to lever that white connector out...I suppose i could have pulled really hard on the wires, but that seemed like a scary thing to do...possible repercussions from xtin were scary thoughts too

Glad you got to experience the joy of removing that white connector. Getting that thing out is probably the hardest part of the install.

Congrats on the install xtin! Finally...

I had to use a small mirror to see where the release tab was on a couple of those connectors. I installed mine yesterday and, like xtin, I thought it wasn't working at first when I did a "test fire" before closing it all up. Luckily, I considered the doors probably need to be closed, so I held the button on the door jamb while testing. Just don't let go of that button with the doors locked, unless you like honking horns and flashing lights.

The trickiest part of the install for me was getting the weatherstrip between the door panel and the glass to stay in the proper place while reinstalling the door panel. Twice, it shifted and made the panel's foam edge visible from outside the car. I spent about ten minutes fiddling with it before getting it back together properly.

Yes. The trouble I had was that the strip rolled off the metal edge very easily such that bumping it with the door panel would shift it. Finally, I was able to get it to snap* down into place.

* Not a real positive click, though.

I am now the MASTER at taking these doors on and off. Had a problem with my install, and FINALLY discovered that the kp green was attached to the wrong white w/red stripe. The correct one was on the OTHER grey connector... Must have removed/attached my door and xtin's door half a dozen times. 15 min job now.
