Knockoff Vis CF Hood?

So I ordered a VIS CF hood and picked it up from the freight deliverer today.

They wouldn't let me inspect the hood prior to signing for it, so I annotated the delivery notice as such, inspected the outer box which looked good and signed for it.

Upon opening it I noticed some problems.

I think the photos speak for themselves, but I don't think this is a VIS CF Hood. I'm already working with the vendor to remedy the situation, since I ordered a VIS hood.

Notice there's no VIS label epoxied into the hood.

Also it has an opening near the hood latch, where most guys have had to dremel that part out.

And the front piece just looks like slop.

Tell me this isn't normal?

No way I'm paying return shipping, I'm in Hawaii and the vendor is in CA. If they want it back they're going to have to spring for it and send someone to pick it up.

Actually looks pretty good from top, but no VIS badge makes it questionable for me.

The hood (bonnet-thank you Top Gear) does look like fun, but that's weird that the freight company made you sign for it before inspection......

Yah, they refused to let me open it so I annotated that on the receipt prior to signing for it.

I just wrote Vis as well and sent them a bunch of pictures to see what they'll say regarding it.

I actually purchased it online, from ilovebodykits. They're also looking at the photos, so I'm waiting to see what they say. One guy did say "I'll just send you a VIS label to put on it"

They did have the hood shipped to me from a different vendor though, that is in CA as well. So they probably didn't even touch the hood themselves.

Uhm.. ... pretty sure its normally epoxied into the hood when its made.

my VIS hood doesn't have a VIS badge anywhere. that front hood trim part can be normal (unfortunately) i've seen different ones, some are like yours, some aren't. luck of the draw i suppose.

thankfully i had my hood recleared a different pigment color so it all looks cherry today.

i don't think you got ripped off or anything.

Thanks, I got a response from VIS they said it's possible to be one of their hoods and not have the label on it. They couldn't say if it was one of their hoods though.

Also said that the site I bought it from does sell their hoods though they don't purchase them directly from VIS.

Yah, thats exactly why I'm holding off on installing it until I hear back from the place I bought it from.

They bought it from a different distributor and had it shipped directly to me, which is what concerns me - especially with all the knockoffs that come out of China.

Everything I've seen for the vis hoods says to check for the badging

Except for VIS themselves, who say that it may or may not have the badging. Here's hoping it's genuine.

I went ahead and installed it. Spoke with the company I bought it from today and they said it is a ViS hood just missing the badge. Were able to identify it by the box and the QC checker's name written on the box I guess.

I checked the latch with a magnet as well to make sure its metal and it is.

They're working on getting a badge for it for me.

It is different than all the others that I've seen, since it has the hole there near the latch and there's no carbon piece on the bottom near the latch like on the other ones I've seen. It has the fiberglass underskeleton though.

I got a near perfect fit on it, ever so slightly a wider gap on the driver's side from the passenger's and I had to drop the hood latch all of the way down. It has 3 bolts holding it and can be aligned higher or lower.

Was easy for me to drop the latch since I have the C-MOD grill installed and can just take out two acura clips and pop it off the bumper so I didn't have to remove the bumper to adjust the latch.

Took less than an hour to install it by myself very carefully lol
