What has been your purchase experience?

Thinking of buying 2016 RDX. What are prices community has paid vis=a=vis MSRP for this vehicle in the past??
Thanks.

Answers will vary depending on the region. Based on www.truecar.com, $2K off MSRP seems to be a decent price as a national average.

From past statistics, December is when RDX's are most sold. You can extrapolate your own conclusion based on the sales figures seen here:

Update: $3K off MSRP + destination fee is doable for the AWD Advance model. However, one dealership gave me the "You're asking for below invoice; I'd be losing money" pitch. I just thanked them for their time and walked out.

I wear my t-shirt that says 'here comes easy money' when I buy a new car. But knowing the sale price is only part of the story, i.e. If you trade that obviously affects the deal too. Your mileage may vary.

I live in NY, I just went to a dealer today, for the 2016 RDX AWD with Advance package, he started with the MSRP of $44460, then said I can do $43480. I mentioned online I saw the invoice price...dealer asked where, then pulled it up on truecar.com. Truecar's price was $42053. He said since I am a returning customer (bought my 05 TL from there), he said they would definitely work with me and try to hit any price available out there. He made the joke...for a few hundred bucks...I don't want you going somewhere else to buy it, we should be able to give you a good price.

What are other people's experiences? Is TrueCar a good price for the car? Anyone have any experience with Costco's car buying service? Are there any others that give you a better price, without the hassle of haggling with a salesman?

Watch out for fees (doc, handling, admin, etc.) and add-ons. And try to keep in mind that the salesman is not your friend. Shop around.

Funny...I just looked on Edmunds...I got a "dealer price quote" of $40910. Its a bit of a trek for me to get to that dealer...but it will be helpful in negotiating I guess.

For a 2016 AWD Advance? Smells fishy.

And this is why these types of posts are worthless.

Everybody who bought a car got the best deal possible and everybody who asks about pricing is paying too much and is a fool for even asking if that price is OK.

The people who bought their cars fail to tell us about proccessing charges and destination fees and forget that pricing is regional and depends on competition.

You'll get a better price in the DC area where there are six or seven dealers within a 30 mile range than you'll get in a place like Colorado Springs where there is one dealer.

While a good negotiator can easily beat Truecar, it does give you a pretty decent ballpark for the average buyer.

Smile Car Purchase Experience

Here in the Palm Springs area, we only have one Acura dealer within 50 miles, so I took the offer of a new RDX Advance FWD at invoice price which was posted on vehicle and which Costco buying service could not beat. I could have saved a few hundred more by going to Riverside or Temecula but it wasn't worth it to me, and they gave me a fair price on my trade, with no upselling. It was a fairly painless transaction which I appreciated. I liked the atmosphere at the dealership; it was friendly and the sales reps were helpful in explaining all of the technology in the car. What was interesting is that True Car was of zero help as their best price was only a 100 off MSRP. Auto Club was best but that meant going to a dealer out of my area. Costco was no help either as I mentioned, but only for that particular car. My impression is that Acura is selling a lot of RDX's in our area.

Bought our 2014 in late summer 2013 (DC area) after a horrible storm rolled through the area. Dealer had been running on generators for 2 days. All priced out, fees, accessories, etc., ours priced out a $42,300. Bought it cash for $35,500 out the door. Would have been a better deal if we financed, oddly enough. If the dealer had been selling cars for the last few days, no way we would have gotten that deal, but they needed cash.

Dealers like financing, they get a kick-back. Telling a dealer upfront you are a cash customer is dumb.

This price of $40910 did not include the destination charge of $940, but the dealer threw in the all season mats. However, with the destination it was still the cheapest edmunds or truecar price I got.

Took it to another dealer to beat, I got it for $41k (including destination and the floor mats). I decided to get the 8y/120k $0 deductible warranty too. This dealer gave it to me for $1900.

I'm guessing that now the 2017's have been announced...the 2016 prices should be getting better...

I bought a 2013 RDX Certified Pre-owned Used from Lougheed Acura and so far my Acura experience has been a poor one. Even though the RDX was subject to a 125 point inspection, I miss my Mercedes everyday.

- The transmission shutters and switches back and forth between gears during speeds of 60-80 km/h
- The car vibrates once its warmed up and stopped at red lights. The engine vibration is constant during stops and the vibration can be felt while sitting in the seat and on the steering feel. Car feels like its choking for air.
-Front Wiper Blades smear that the car is unsafe to drive
-Rear Wiper Smears
-Engine filter is so dirty that it appears it was never changed.
- I have reason to believe the cabin filter is probably in the same condition.
- When I test drove the RDX, oil life was 80%, the oil looks the exact same upon delivery but the cluster now say's 100%
- The engine cover has stains and a pink substance on the plastic part of the engine bay.

This is only what I noticed by doing a simple 20 minute check wondering why the car vibrates so harshly.

I've owned 4 Mercedes both new and used and a 2 BMW's. I've never been this let down before. Acura appears to only be acting in the Luxury segment.

Unsafe to operate
2013 RDX, appears to be factory air filter
Oil looks identical at 100% versus 80% during test drive
Burnt out wiper
Stained engine. Weird pink substance on plastic parts.

wow thats not a very positive experience and certainly not a typical one for an RDX. I hope you have tried cleaning your windshield , try rubbing alcohol or a degreaser which can remove wax and grease.
At 80% your oil should look cleaner than that...at least mine does...
I bought my 2014 last fall from an Acura dealer and the only negative was...actually there are 2.

1. They snuck in some kind of tire road hazard package for which I paid extra and I failed to notice it on the bill of sale...the tires were 100% worn out when I bought it, which I was OK with, since they were still the original tires and it had over 50,000 miles on it.
2. The oil was changed when the RDX came in on a trade-in and prepped for re-sale but they did not reset the maintenance minder so oil life was reading 40% with brand new oil.

Mods, maybe move this thread to the main listing and out of the DIY section?

We picked-up a mint 2016 RDX Elite with 25,000 miles in Graphite Luster Metallic. Previous owner always had it in garage, waxed each time at dealer for service, etc... Owner even had the electronic anti-rust module installed when first getting the SUV.. he must of paid a lot for nothing more than a piece of plastic with a blinking light.

Also included were OEM winter mats... nice!

This is the 2013-2018 section. A new 2020 is considered a third generation.
