Yeah, the dealer glass was ~$800 when I had my windshield replaced. It's not cheap. Fortunately, USAA came through after a little prodding. I've been with them for decades and zero claims, so maybe that played a part, dunno.
If you have a spotless or near spotless record with State Farm, I'd push the issue with them, maybe even threaten to go elsewhere?
And maybe you need to try a different glass company if they can't source OEM distributor glass....

I've been with State Farm since I was 16 (about 12 years now) without a single ticket or claim. Maybe that will work in my favor? I'm not extremely hopeful, but we shall see.
And yes, I am hoping to stop by another glass company if I can get out of the office on time. It may be easier to explain my request in-person rather than over the phone. At a minimum, I'm hoping to find a shop that can at least obtain OEM distributor glass. I don't think that's too unreasonable of a request? But hey, what do I know? This is my first time going through this process.

Okay, so I just spoke with State Farm... again. (I hope I'm not boring anyone with my details lol).
The agent I spoke with was extremely pleasant and transferred me to a windshield claims specialist, Gerald, who gave me his direct line. Gerald understood my frustrations and confirmed that AP Tech is indeed the OEM windshield. I told him my situation and that this wasn't my daily, I only drive my TL for 6-ish months out of the year, blah blah blah. He asked how long I have been with State Farm and if I've ever filed a windshield replacement claim. To this, I answered approximately 12 years and zero claims.
After a few minutes of searching, he told me that he could get a PPG OEM Distributor replacement sent to the glass company that I'm working with. Gerald found a vendor connection and mentioned that he would be able get one shipped to the shop and also called the shop on my behalf and spoke to their consultants. I asked him to confirm that the PPG windshield has an acoustical barrier and is an OEM Distributor replacement. He confirmed that this was correct.
Now, I am just waiting for a phone call form the glass shop to schedule an appointment. All in all, I think this may go okay? I'm not getting Dealer glass, but a quality PPG OEM Distributor glass is far better than a cheaper Aftermarket option I think? Should I be satisfied or should I continue to push back?

^^^ unless you want to pay $2500 for a OEM glass replacement, I would say any other reputable name brand would do.

Dealer glass was quoted around $1,200 with my out-of-pocket expenses being just north of $800.
Anyways, the windshield is being worked on today. I'll try to post some pictures later this week once it's back.

Guys! I need some information quick. Does the drip molding also get removed/replaced when a new windshield is installed? I picked my car up tonight and noticed (what appear to be) quite a few new scratches along the roof line. I do NOT recall seeing these before

I am not so sure how your dealer quote you $1200 for the replacement using OEM glass. Acura already listed $993 (no discount) and on top of it most deal will mark up another $100-$200, so they don't charge for labor? Hell my dealer already said they can't even price match part (listing price from Delray and Pedoria)

I am still not understanding why OEM glass is an issue, Pilkington, while not the OEM maker for Acura, is in fact the OEM maker for other brands, Lexus for one. Long story short, they make glass for the TL and other than the logo on the glass, I have observed exactly zero difference it and the factory glass on my car.

My update to contribute to this thread.
The OEM windshield on my 07 TL-S developed stress crack all across the mid after we had a week of super hot and then super cold temps.
Called the Acura dealer: aftermarket glass w/labor ~$450, OEM glass w/labor ~$1400. Waited 10 days for OEM glass to come in, dropped my car off, then got a call that the OEM glass had a crack in it...lol...10 more days wait. But in the mean time I'm driving a 22 TLX loaner...not a bad car at all for driving for free.
I've had 2 other aftrermarket windshield on my other TL and an older accord.....and I can say that at least in my experience both of the aftermarket windshields started to have small cracks/pits way way faster than OEM glass.
