Im nt sure if this has been discussed already, but I was wondering if anyone in the NYC/Westchester area has experience getting their windshield replaced.

I have a crack in my windshield that is beyond repair, and I need it replaced.

I'm hoping to get it replaced with OEM glass if possible. I hear the PPG is also a good option, and I've read that AP Tech makes the OEM glass?

I asked the dealer, and they said about $900 for OEM. I found the glass online from Acura of Peoria for $547.94 + $52.05 ground shipping. I believe my local dealer wanted arounf $750, which is the retail price.

So the question I have is, can anyone recommend a reputable shop in the area. Would I be able to order the glass myself and have it shipped for installation? I'm just looking to save a few bucks while still getting a good windshield because I'm paying out of pocket for the repair.

I haven't had the windshield in my TL replaced, but I've had it repaired a few times by Safelite through GEICO. They came to my garage to do the repair. Here's their website if you want to contact them -

Please keep in mind that the OEM windshield for the 2004-08 TL is special because it's a "acoustic glass" to reduce road noise.

I do not know if one can tell the difference between this special glass and aftermarket glass. The Acura OEM glass is twice the price with installation included.
