Maybe I am just a dumb f^^k. Educate me guys....

Is there "two" levels of programming required?
1) one by the dealer to program the chip to your car, that is immolizer, mem settings, etc.
2) user programmable, add the remote to your car...following these instructions
http://www.flbusa.com/Remote.pdf
or your user's manual.

Or by me doing #2 will do #1 as well? Come on guys....

you can program the remote features of the key like unlock. lock, trunk , panic and window down. But the programming they are talking about is the key itself. It has a chip inside it. I am going to just take my old key and cut the head of the key off and get the chip out and then open the switchblade key and put my transponder chip in it.

Thanks, buddy.

So I guess there is TWO levels of programming. The "chip" has to be programmed by the dealer & it's not just order a key fob (say for #1) from ftbusa & take the key to a lock smith & have it cut & I program the key to my car by following these instructions http://www.flbusa.com/Remote.pdf

I emailed flbusa about a week ago regarding availability of the switchblade keys, but have not received a response from him. Has anybody else tired contacting them or received anything from this guy? I just don’t want to send him my money and then have him spilt :-/

Unhappy Flbusa Update

I just spoke with Peter (FLBUSA) on the phone 5:30pm. He has made it aware to me that he's out of keys at the moment! Everyone who has ordered one.....it may take awhile for him to get the key(s) to you. He's waiting on his dealer to provide him with more. He also stated he will be emailing everyone in regards to this, for your opportunity to recieve a refund or the opportunity to hang in there and wait for him to recieve his next batch of keys.

Just thought I'd pass that along!

Do you guys smell a GB? We should see if he'll do a GB where we all send him a key, have him cut to match and do the chip swap. that would be sweet, it would take all the guess work & dealer trips out of the equation...

I just off the phone with my service guy at my Acura dealership and he is actually giving me a pretty good deal for a switchblade key. He quoted me at $144 plus tax for a switchblade key cut and programmed for my car. The only down side is the memory seat function will not work, but he said my current keys and keyfobs will still work. Has anyone else tried asking their dealership?

Depending where you are, I've heard that a lot of dealerships will just buy from FLBUSA and sell them over the counter.

You cannot have a Group Buy if the Person/Member you are buying it from isnt an Official Vendor.

Look through this and you will be able to see what you need to do.My suggestion would be to just get the key programmed, it is risky to open it and try cutting the
chip out.

Any additional news from FBusa? I can’t get a response from him and haven’t seen an update on his website or courtesy E-mail regarding our orders.

I spoke to him on the phone yesterday. He is just out of keys to mill. I think he's at the mercy of the dealership to get them in stock. Sounds like it could be around the second week in June before he gets them and has some or all of the current orders fulfilled. I told him I'd hang in there till he got them done. Hell I've got $240 of my money paypaled to him.....I just hate to yank the money and not get one when he gets them completed. Sounds like a great guy. Just busy. Hang in there. He said he would email everyone soon with details.

is it true that it's more expensive to get the "driver 2" key than it is to get the "driver 1" key?

how bout this one off ebay

This remote is nearly brand new with a cut key blade. Make sure you contact your local dealer or the locksmith you will be bringing this to, to make sure that they will be able to replace the key blade and program the tiny glass transponder chip that controls your cars security. Do this BEFORE you bid. NO RETURNS on these units.
...$50.00

did you guys have to replace the blade? or did it come with a blank one?

WELL GUYS! I ordered my key today from Acura Dealership in Oakland California. The key is already milled for 3rd generation TL's. I will receive it by Thursday. It was $118.95 + shipping. total came to $125.00. I had FLBUSA refund my $115.00 and ordered this key. It is a MEM-1 Key. Once I recieve, I will have to take to dealership to have them machine cut/copy the key and then have the "brain" programmed to my car. Gonna be like $80. If anyone wants the dealership number, contact me via PM. Good luck!

of course u can go buy a key.. read a couiple threads 07s are lazer cut keys.. 04-06 r not they must be moddified which i highly doubt any dealer will do
that price u paid isnt even that good for a key.. u can get them on ebay pretty cheap if your looking just for a regular unmilled key for 07+

as for the guy fblusa or w/e.. i wrote hima couple times without a response months ago i wont buy a key from someone who cant take 20sec to write me back

Those keys on ebay, you have to be absolutely sure about them... and having to get them machined milled yourself is a pain.... However, Ill keep everyone posted once i recieve my key tomorrow or thursday as far as the compatability goes. I'm positive it will work, the guy at the dealership assured me he knew what i was referring too!
