Just Got My Tint Done

Hey guys....I just got my tint done at local shop that is supposed to be pretty good. I have some before and after shots. I went with SolarGard tint and decided on the Superior edition with the lifetime warranty and since it was a little more durable. Also it's a 28% all the way around except for the front of course. Overall I am happy with it, except I have a question for the other guys with tint. Take a look at your back window, the real small one. Up close it looks like they cut the tint wrong, but they didn't. Inside is a rubber strip that blocks the tint from being the same inside as outside. My question is, does everyone else looks like this too? I am sure I have seen some other tint jobs and didn't notice the gap in the back window....

This is day I got the car when it was cleaned and detailed....

This morning with the Solargard Superior Tint 28%....don't mind my dirty Type-S as it has rained the last three days!

Back window I was referring to...also the white specs you see is just dust and where the window is dirty from the tint shop.

Thanks for any responses! Type-S A-Spec kit, wheels, and suspension coming soon.....

They should have been able to tint those windows fully. My tint place was able to. I'd say go back and tell them to complete their job.

x2

No excuse other than laziness or they don't know what they're doing.

^^exactly. i called several places regarding this and moleskin, not too many knew how to do it, so i didnt bother. i want the job done right so im actually driving to queens (2 hrs from me) to get it done

here are a couple of those bad jobs..

and check out this thread (Rocky's) for a good job. per Rocky's recommendation im going to that same guy. https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=172380

one other thing you want to check out is if they tinted under the third brake light or tinted around it. IMO the job looks much cleaner if they tint under it as opposed to around it. there was a thread on this..let me see if i can find it

Ha great....well it will be Monday at the earliest I can get back there. Even with it being dried over the weekend they can pull it back off and do it again? Thanks guys and I had a feeling that was not right. I will also check out the third brake light, though I am not sure what I am looking for. One thing I do know is they took the cover off in the inside of the car to put the tint in. It appeared to be the black cover for the brake light. I will check.

moleskin is a felt that they put on the windows where the glass meets the door (on the rubber) so that the tint does not get scratched. now ppl have said that their tint is not scratched even if they dont have moleskin, but the general consensus is that it prevents scratching and you should get it. in any case always be sure to clean that area regularly

check out this thread.. https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179403

ive heard that its pretty easy to do it yourself if you didnt get it done. there are mixed reviews on the one sold here (a sticky on the 3G Homepage - there is also info on it in the thread posted above)

well I confirmed the third brake light was done right. There are no light spots and appears to be tinted where the brake light is. Like I said I saw them pop a box off around the brake light, so I am thinking they did that one right. Now that I know what I am looking for I will double check again, but a spot as clear as the pic is above, second one, I would have noticed it as well.

Thanks for all your help everyone. I will have them fix the back windows this coming week.

no question about it...Steve @ TintMax. Call him up and make an appt. The consensus on this website is that he's one of the best in new england. He does the rear quarter perfectly, tints under the 3rd brake light, and even gives your car a power wash for 10 bucks. The job is $250 (quoted from him) - Azine members have paid $225, but i won't know until i go there and talk to him. ill let you know what happens monday night. anyways.. he does a good job..check out Rocky's Thread for pics and comments

LMAO Play4real, that's my KBP in the pic above. Anyway, here is a pic of the small rear window tint. I had to go to a couple shops because the first place said it was impossible to do them behind the seal without removing the window. The shop that ultimately did my car had absolutely NO PROBLEM...
