I would fix it, and sell it!!! Speaking from experience that car is crap now. But at least ur not claiming to the insurance company.. Mine was quoted 9k and my car was worth 13 at the time, so insurance wanted to fix it. Once they got to fixing it things started adding up.. Total bill was 12k in repairs... I hope ur mechanic doesn't get in there and find more problems since ur paying.. Good luck

The only way it would be "totaled" is if your insurance was involved. Because they're not going to pay a dime for it, it's really up to you to determine if it's totaled or not. Either you want to pay for the repairs or you don't and it's a total loss, it's up to you.

Happy Holidays!
Full coverage also covers you if your car is stolen, not just driving accidents. You'll never know what will happen these days. Glad are you ok though. But a poor decision on your part.

Sounds like your insurance "totaling" the car isn't even relevant here, since you don't have collision coverage. If you're going to fix it, try to find a junkyard TL that had rear or right side damage, and pull parts from that car - many of the parts from 2004-2008 are interchangeable. No reason to report it to your insurance, but it might be already happen due to the other driver's car. Good luck!

(Figured I'd share this sobering story/video in this thread as it seemed related, although I did originally post here - https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...&postcount=178 )
Drove past this yesterday (my birthday!) on my way back from my parents'. Boy am I glad I decided to drive across the grassy median from local to express lanes (along with many other vehicles - amazingly I picked a spot where I didn't bottom out!) If I stayed in the local lanes, I'd probably still be there.
And sorry I didn't have a chance yet to edit the video. I took some before this with zoom in of the smoke, larger flames, etc, but no chance to make a highway-car-fire montage.
So when you're sad your TL's got a few thousand of damage not covered by an insurance 'right-off', realize it could always be worse. Much worse.

I hate to say it but you better hope that's totalled; the damage looks severe enough that it will unlikely ever drive the same. Best of luck and glad you're okay.
