Ouch, frame damage? With airbags, I'm guessing you've got 4~6 grand of damage?

Wow! That's one hard hit. Airbags and everything... hope that you are okay! Looks like it was an 07/08 TL so I don't think it will be a total loss (assuming the structure is still repairable) but I guess it depends on your insurance company and Texas regulations.

Really do hope you are okay though! Keep us posted!

ouch. bumper, fender, axle, suspension, headlight, side marker...noticed a ding on the rear of the car as well (was that part of the accident?), side skirt, wheel, airbags...all this alone is probably $7-9k.

also noticed a nice puddle under the engine which means other stuff beneath the skin is damaged.

so what happened??? year and mileage on the car would help the census as to whether the car will be/should be totaled.

sorry to see...hope you're ok.

It had 60000km and its 08
i just got a quote for around 3000-4000 plus what ever is leaking under would be extra since only 1 air bag came out, definitely going to fix it though, i cant imagine parting this car..

I imagine that price will go up considerably if there is axle damage and other things.

How'd it happen?

It's not worth repairing the car. Report it to your insurance company assuming that you have full coverage. Glad that you're okay!

Seriously though, the car will never be the same. It's resale value will be diminished now because of the amount of damage that this wreck did.

This is all dependent on your current status with the car though. Are you still financing? How long until it's paid off? Do you have GAPP insurance?

Good luck with everything!

i dont have collision coverage, so basically liability, insurance will not cover my car, so its either i repair it or part it. and i own the car.

^^ +1 on story
Were you injured in the accident?
I would think its a write off as well if the engine was damaged

Wow. You're kidding . I sympathize with you here because you'll be paying a big chunk of change to fix a car that will never drive the same and instantly lose 25% of its value. But let this be a lesson to everyone. Once you own a car and no longer have to carry collision, consider the replacement cost vs. extra cost of insurance. I don't think I'd ever not carry collision for any vehicle that's worth more than $3000-$4000, let alone $15,000-$17,000 like a 07-08 Base TL. That of course depends on how much more collision is than basic liability but if you have a good record it shouldn't be much more than $20-$40 per month.

OP, I know it's insult to injury, but you really need to get collision on this car or whatever new car you get if it's worth as much as this TL is (or was).

Hope everything works out for you! I'll second on the full coverage, I'd rather pay the extra per month and the deductible than be forced to pay a couple G's out of pocket

yeah man, never get insurance without collision/full coverage. If you can't afford it, don't buy a TL in the first place.

Well, the money you'll be shelling out could have paid for 5-6 years of full coverage insurance.

i agree with everyone that said you need to pickup collision coverage. The most important part of the story right now would be is who was at fault? Just going off the OP's responses i would assume OP was at fault. Now i maybe wrong, which i hope for the op's sake that i am. Most importantly Im glad that you are safe and unharmed.

Yeah i was at fault, i slowed down coming off the highway facing west in the afternoon against the sun, i though it was a single lane street cause it was hard to see. Proceeded to try to go in the middle and a speeding mazda U6X hit me. :s

Lesson learned, though i would never hit anyone behind the wheels thats why i didnt bother getting collision cause its 90 extra for m with 1000 deductibles. But im adding that on ASAP when i fix my car. Now i have to tow this car all the way from waterloo back to toronto for fixing at my mechanic -.-
