Just got back from the dealer...

Hi everyone! This is my official first post, but I've been a long time reader ... and a member of other car forums for 4+ years.

I finally graduated from college and naturally headed to the dealer to reward myself. I've been a long time Honda owner, and I knew I wanted a TL type-S for my next car. I've been doing a bit of research on the site so I knew what to expect to pay before going in. After the dealer found out that he wasn't going to aww me with his knowledge of the car we got down to talking numbers. After 2 hours this was the offer.

TL-S silver on black w/ cargo net & wheel locks AT
Price before tax: $35,400
tax: 7%
OTD: $37,880

Keep in mind I wanted the Manual transmission which out of 20+ TL-S on the lot the only one they had was Carbon Bronze Pearl w/ taupe interior (my last choice ).

So part of me wants to wait for a manual 2008 model, but then again I don't want to pay more then $35,400 before tax.

So is this deal won't settling or should I wait? Also, how long do you guys think the 4.9% financing will be available?

Thanks in advance guys! I'm looking forward to becoming a proud owner of a new TL.

The 4.9% per Acura will end tomorrow. Getting an 07 will give you a little more leverage on the pricing because no dealer wants to have the previous year on his/her lot - even if the car has not changed.

I think MSRP on the TL-S is $38k right ? $35k doesn't sound bad; but I haven't bought one so I cannot tell you what others or myself paid.

I'm not being rude honest but.....we all get the cargo net. Tell them to throw something else in......... all weather mats - trunk tray.....clear bra maybe......

I think they all come with wheel locks too........

do not get it, since it is not the color combo you want, do not get it as it the car will reflect you. I am sure that you can get this same price with the 08';s if you haggle enough. this is just my

Dude, i know the feeling of wanting a new car to reward yourself w/...BUT you are paying a lot for the car so why settle for a color combo you don't really like???? In a few months you WILL regret it. Besides, the "deal" they gave you is not that hot. They will be sweating to sell the 07, so expect at least another 1K off. If not, do an internet search to other Acura dealers for both the 07 and 08 models. Internet dealer quotes is the way to go nowaday. I think the 08 should not be much more than that... But if you really want that car, get more (and better) freebies - spoiler, bra, etc... GL.

+1 for the internet search and quote. Don't settle, you plan on keeping it for a while right?

Slow down, finish doing your homework and get what you want at a good price. This is not like last call at the bar on Saturday night.

I will share my experience but keep in mind that mine is AT (07 TL-S).

Price include destination: $34,100
Processing fee: $245
3% VA Title Tax :$1030.35
Title fee: $101

OTD: $35496.49

Another internet quote I got was $33,999 before everything.

For the 4.99% financing, you need EXCELLENT credit to qualify, not just GOOD credit. And the deal is if you don't get the 4.99% Honda financing, you can get $1,500 off. The funny part is for TSX, if you do Honda financing, you get $1,000 off. However, I ended up getting 6.99% Honda financing AND $1,500 off. My credit rating is good, NOT excellent.

When I went to test drive on Saturday, they only had 1 AT TL-S on the lot. I was only allowed to run about 5 miles on it since someone was going to buy that car that afternoon. It was just a coincident that it was the color combo (black on black) I wanted. However, that guy never showed up and they really wanted to sell me that car since it was the combo I wanted. I said I will think about it. So I went back Sunday and tried to negotiate my trade in price since I know there's not much room left to haggle on the new car. I had to hurry up and close the deal because in a month when all the 08s come out, I will lose more trade in value on my 05 TL.

When I bought my 05 TL, I got the internet quote ($33,500) and the dealer said that's already the best price. So I was able to get mud guard installed, body side molding installed, all-season floor mats, and trunk tray from them for free.

Thanks for the comments guys, I ended up calling another dealer today and they found me a TL-S (black on black) two states away. We settled on 34,900 + 500 transport fee. It also has the "High Performance Tires" so I'm feeling pretty good about the deal. I should take delivery on Friday. I'll be sure to post some pictures

If you have a family member in the military or used to be in the military, have them get you into Navy Federal Credit union. They will finance it for like 3%
