Just bought another 3G

Just picked up another 3g, this one is for my wife. I still have my '04 6MT that I have been driving for 5+ years. I have been car shopping since Tuesday when we moved to Phoenix and was trying to find her a 2010+ Accord, Rav4, CR-V, Lexus ES330, or newer Camry, but there are way too many shady people on Craigslist and dealerships were charging much more than I wanted to spend. Plus, here in Arizona you don't pay sales tax when you purchase a car from a private party, so that was another incentive. It's an '08 base, non-navi, WDP with 90k miles. Guy I bought it from just dropped $1900 at the dealership to have the timing belt, compressor, tensioner, water pump swapped, all fluids topped, transmission fluid flushed, oil changed, with a 3 stage fuel system service (another $300). Plus he just put on new Michelin Pilot Sports and a new windshield. He wanted $12.75k and I got it for $10k. Love my NBP, but I may have to take out my wife's car once in a while because I also love the WDP.

Kind of weird to be driving the same car, but the deal was too good to pass up

Congrats!

It's interesting the seller put all that $$ into the maintenance and then sold it. Also the fact you were able to tal him down another $2700.

Funny thing is, I didn't even have to talk him down. I emailed him a couple days ago to ask if the price was negotiable. He said maybe down to $12.2k. I emailed him early yesterday morning and said I would pass, as I thought it was still slightly overpriced. He immediately emailed me back and said he would take $10k cash and I said absolutely. Had the car inspected this morning, car checked out, and includes all the service records.

Car may need spark plugs at 105k, but other than that it, it shouldn't need anything major in the foreseeable future.

Sounds like he was pretty motivated. Hopefully all is good with the car and you have thousands of problem free miles ahead of you!!

Nice. That's how I got my TL 3 years ago. Offered cash at a price too good for me to pass up, never thought he would take the deal, but now I have a TL.

My wife has always raised a bit of an eyebrow at me when I talk about cars and me looking at other TLs. But the other night after we bought her car, she started looking through google images of other white 3g TLs and was saying how she wanted to lower hers, get an aspec kit, buy new wheels and wrap the top black, haha.

Took the car out on the freeway yesterday for the first time and averaged 35mpg going 75mph, for a 45 mile round trip. Couldn't believe it since my '04 gets about 26mpg tops

That is what I net in my 07 AT. Gotta love the RL tranny in the 07-08. Don't forget they have 3 pressure switches when you go to do that.

I average 36 MPG in an '06 AT TL. Heavy feet have more to do with it.

I could never understand getting the major 105K work done and then selling shortly thereafter either. Some people just get bored with their cars I guess and feel a need to have something different or new. It worked out great for you though!
