It's not a miracle (broken timing belt)

I wrote a quick article about my recent TL repair experience (Note: I don't own TL or currently working in automotive repair field)
The parts were supplied by customer, purchased on Amazon. Timing belt was Mitsuboshi brand made in Thailand.
My past timing belt change experience on V-6 engines has been limited to Toyota/Lexus FWD.
Thank you for reading!

Good writeup. It looks like the customer got lucky with the belt snapping at just the right spot where the valves wouldn't have contact with any of the piston heads. Otherwise it seems that cranking it over would have caused some damage.

The crank has stopped at 9 o’clock position (safe zone) for cam adjustment.
Source?

2) How to install the replacement belt correctly to keep the engine in time (unlike
Toyota, Honda does not put installation reference marks on the new belts)
Not required and a waste of time....

I ended up reusing original NTN tensioner
No way I'd do this, especially on an engine with unknown miles. Very likely that that tensioner will fail before the next TB change is due.

When you are using soft Chinese belt; stiff new belt tends to curve

Japan made NTN timing parts last 2 timing belt change intervals this why this tensioner costs more than entire GMB kit

The timing belt tensioner is usually the first to go bad in the timing belt system.

In this particular case I will be worry about the belt quality / shelf life (as customer declined OEM part kit due to the cost). When tensioner goes bad it makes loud ticking sound. I have a feeling that in 2 years the belt will need to be changed again

Yeah, I went all OEM with the belt kit. I wasn't under the impression that the tensioner was a weak link in the setup. Either way, it's a good idea to change everything you can while you're in there. I even changed the idler pulley which I think literally no one has reported as ever going bad. But hey, it's $12 and takes 10 minutes to change

Actually in my case the GMB roller had significant play and spit the grease all over. The idler roller from the kit was Koyo USA (went over the shim
