I sold my TL and am now in a different car. I love the new car and it's great. No regrets. However, I've been noticing some little things I miss about my TL. Really minor stuff. Thought I'd post the list here, since you all might appreciate these:

On the flip side, there are a couple things in my new car, that the TL didn't have (but the new car is also 8 years newer.):

but the TL does have sunglass holders (horribly designed ones albeit) but they are there. inside the door panels.

And the TL did have a sunglass holder, it was in the cubbie in the door.

I had gone through the same comparision while browsing at different cars (2009-2011 audi a4, and newer-new vw gti) and found that even at the base newer base a4's don't even come close to having the things you've listed! while the GTI's don't even have those options available even when you pay close to $30k for a new top of the line GTI.

yah..some of your list are the reasons why i stuck with my 3G so many times.

....does the kia have 'bixenon' HIDs as well cuz I would have missed that alot! having high beams as part of the DRL halogens is ghetto.

The 3G was so ahead of its time... even its ancient ELS stereo rocks harder than some of the current oem setups.

 

I have basically all of the features my TL had in my new car. But I definitely miss the interior of the TL everything felt like it was high quality.

Correct. To be more specific, I have the SX. I wouldn't even consider an Optima unless it was an SX or an SX-Limited.

Yes, I knew about the little rubber sunglass basket in the door panel. I guess I should have said, overhead sunglass holder.

Ha. I forgot my TL had a tape player. I had the TL for 7 years and I think I used it once just to make sure it worked. Lol.

No, not bixenon, just xenon. The high beams are a separate halogen. The Optima (unless you have the Limited) does not have DRLs. The Limited has LED DRLs.

Agreed that the TL was ahead of its time! The Infinity stereo in my Kia is fantastic and is roughly on par with the TL's stereo. The TL's stereo was probably a tad bit better in terms of audio quality and clarity but the Infinity in my Kia has more power and will go louder. Similar number of speaker for both.

I feel exactly the same way. The Kia gives me all the features I'm looking for, but I felt the TL is put together with a bit more thought.

You must parallel park a lot.

the SX trim is the turbo?

I'm guessing the kia forums don't mod as much as honda/acura forums? how is it over there?(assuming you are on the forums)

 

The SX is always turbo. You can get EX either with turbo or without. The LX is not turbo. But the SX has things like Xenon headlights, LED taillights, flared side skirts, stiffer springs that you cannot get with an EX or an LX.

 

There is definitely less modding over there and their forums are nowhere near as active. I'm not much of a mod guy anyway. I didn't really get onto this forum much until I had higher mileage on my TL and started reading up on maintenance items.
