It's been a good ride.. Traded-In the RRP 3G

Attachment 115579

I purchased this car from my Dad in 2011 and sold my 2G NGM (modded) TL - which was my first car (it hurt to let that go). I lightly modified the 3G in the short time I had it - ASPEC front lip, AEM V2, tint, resonator delete, HT Spec V2 coilovers...

The 3G had 0 problems or repairs or replacements up to this point - 95,000 miles. Amazing. It was due for new brakes in a few thousand miles (original pads and rotors) and the timing belt/water pump service

Beautiful comfortable car - I really really liked it. It was just time to get out of it while it was worth something and before having to put money into it - time will tell if it was the right choice. I will probably never have another TL if they continue to look like the 4th gen...

I was debating between the Mazdaspeed3, Civic Si, Hyundai Genesis Coupe, or waiting for the Subaru BRZ.

It's a "unique" look and has some quirks about it - but overall, I really love it. I have an odd love affair with wagons - granted, this is a hatchback - it's wagon-esqe. First manual I've driven. It's got a lot of power and it's a lot of car for the money.

I'll probably still pop in occasionally- just because I will always love TL's - I've spent so much time and energy on them.

Happy driving/modding!

All your choices are very good ones. But I suggest the Hyundai Genesis Coupe or the Suburu BRZ. They are both RWD so if you have snow, you WILL NEED SNOWS tires for best driving.

I fully agree about the 4G Never Sucks

Did you trade your 3G in on the new car or sell it out right? Either way did you put it back to stock? What did you get for it? I have an 07 Type-S that I want to sell or trade. The only problem is I could probably get 2k more if I sold it outright. It also has a few mods I would rather just sell with instead of having to remove.

Thanks guys! I'm enjoying it so far. I love driving it. Did my first commute to work - it was a light traffic day - but still got some practice with the clutch.

Trade. Left the lip and intake (and tint). The coilovers were sold a few months ago. Almost new bike rack is up for sale in the Black Market. You would probably get more in a private sale - but who knows how long it's going to take. I always wanted a white 3G Type S.

Thats a flawed argument btw. The generally recognized way to save money is by a) buying used and b) holding on to a vehicle until it is junk.

My own personal twist is to view vehicles as a monthly cost. As long as your monthly cost doesnt exceed X, you're good to go. For example, if i'm paying more in maintenance/repairs on a monthly basis than payments on a new car, then its time to switch.

nice to see another MS3 on the here.

check out the mazda threads if you have any questions on the platform.

JS+MS3 and supertrooper both have modded speeds, they would help you more than i could.

Get something AWD or RWD. That's my only major gripe with the 3G.

From the pic you posted, it looks to be in mint condition for 95K miles. Mine is an 06 with 77K miles- I plan on keeping it until it doesn't run (I'll be like one of the old folks with a 1960's era car on the roads today in ~ 30 years). I hate car payments. Good luck with the new car though.

Nice, hatchbacks are great. Personally I'm not a fan of the new Mazda grin though...

Ha, neither was I. Black pretty much hides that though. But it's irrelevant when I'm driving the car and can't see. Also, that stupid grin mimicks the stupid grin I have on my face when I'm driving the car. It's an incredibly more fun car to drive than the 3G TL. I miss the refinement of the TL, but not the soft driving experience.

It was in great condition - aside from needing new brakes and the timing belt service. As of last week, it was still on the dealers lot. Tint removed, wheel scuffs cleaned up, and drivers seat repaired from mis-matched coloring and cracks (Maybe just a coat of leather paint or something). But the interior looks incredible now. I wonder if they left the AEM V2 intake in there, haha.

I found a sales ad from the dealership. It took over a month to sell.

Looks goofy w/ out the tint and no coilovers

That was a clean TL! The new Mazdas are cool, too.

How much did they give your for trade-in? What was it being sold for at the dealer?

Congrats man, I am also a HUGE fan of the wagons and the MS3 is the best bang for your buck, pretty much hands down IMO. Enjoy it!
