Issue with TL trunk lid

I don't know if it is just me. I am not crazy with how the trunk closes on the TL. It sounds kinda "tinny" when you close it, and you have to use a lot of force to make sure it is closed. The inside little handle you have to use to close it is kinda inconvenient and I don't like to slam the trunk door down!

I wish that Acura would install a button (inside the trunk lid, similar to what VW, Lexus and others) uses to close the trunk automatically.

Shouldn't this be a standard feature on a "luxury" car, like Acura?

Don't get me wrong, I love, love the TL - but this is one small problem that kinda bothers me!

I feel the same way about the trunk. I looked at other cars like the G35, BMW, lexus, and they all have hydraulics on their trunk lids. And, I think most of them also has a trunk release button on the outside as well. So you dont have to keep using your remote to open it. Even the TSX has that button!

Im sure this is the kinda of small stuff that will be changed on the next design. Not worth the hassle on the current/last model. Plus the RL probably has something like that. Remember, they come out with their new models mid-way through our already current 4 year line up ( and vice versa)

I could never really be sure my trunk lid was down, so I gave it a little push every once in a while. One sunny day whilest washing & waxing I noticed minute dents
where I had apparently I had been pushing TOO hard. The metal there is pretty thin. My check to DentWizard taught be to be more cautious!
It's pretty thin all over actually.

Meek.....I don't know.
My 2001 CL wasn't as thin in the metal areas.
Me thinks they are going in the OTHER direction

My trunk closes with little or no force, no need to slam it down.

Yeah, I'm a bit confused by this. My trunk closes easily, if not too easily. Also we just bought my wife an is250 and while it does have electronic keyless entry, there is nothing special to closing it. There is a handle just like the TL and it is actually quite a bit harder to close than my TL.

Also confused, my 05 TL closed very easily. Also played around with a BMW 545 recently and it had the same type of mechanism as the TL being a internal torsion spring with no damping mechanism. Opened and closed it, both were about the same in opening and closing.

On the TL I know you can adjust the torsion preload to increase or decrease the force needed to close the trunk.

Are you talking the noise you hear when closing the trunk and you hear the license plate rattle because you're not using 4 bolts to hold it on? Or if you are using 4 bolts they might not be on tight enough.

Mine also closes with pretty much it's own weight. All I do is get it started ever-so-slightly using the little finger-handle inside the lid just to the right of the latch. A bit of a tinny thunk for sure but some dynamat would probably fix that. I almost wish it took more force.

And that little finger-handle inside the lid is priceless to me. My dad's ES330 doesn't have one and is harder to close. So guess who's trunk has scratches from rings on the lid and who's doesn't

The trunk seems very lightweight, so when I close it, it has a diffrent sound than I'm used to. I have to assume that it is securely closed.

I did not have this problem with my prior vehicle (Mazda 626), because the trunk had a little more weight to it (rear taillights), so this will just take some getting used to!

I do wish though, that Acura would install a "push button" inside the trunk, so you don't have to slam the trunk down every time.

Thanks!
