ipod? RCA vs. Directconnect(icelink)
ipod? RCA vs. Directconnect(icelink)
Hey guys just a quick question to all you audiophiles out there. Since Icant intergrate my ipod into the TL I guess im going to do it in my Truck. So here are my options I have read about the Dension Ice link wich utilizes the line out of the ipod. Then my other option is using the RCA line in. In the back of my Head unit. Is there a real noticeble diffrence this way. I know its alot cheaper with the rca for me. Thanks for the help

Dension and RCA
Here's my 2 cents . . .
The RCA would definitely be cheaper. However the benefit of the Dension unit is it utilizes the line out audio of the iPod and then allows you better volume control through your head unit. Now this is more a convenience issue (having to control one volume instead of 2). But the greatest benefit of the Dension system is that the iPod can be somewhat controlled via the head unit. You won't be able to select playlists, but you'll be able to fast forward/reverse and skip/return to different songs on your current playlist. You'll also be able to charge the iPod while it's in use through one cable. And finally, the iPod will turn on/off with the headunit being on/off and resume from last played point.
It's a pretty neat system actually and I would get it for my TL if it didn't sacrifice XM.
That's about it.
