I was performing a y turn on the street that I live on and a car was coming. I backed up, stopped the car completely then put the car in drive but since there was a car waiting I didn't wait the 1 or so seconds required for it to engage drive before I let off the brake. I've heard that one is not supposed to let the transmission brake for you but not stopping completely before putting it in gear. I did do this as the car was fully stopped when I selected drive. 999 out of 1000 I do let it engage this time I didn't for the reason I explained above. It was a jerky engagement so I tried it again 3 more times with my foot on the brake and it was still jerky. I'll see tmrw morning if the same is the case. Why do you think one time of letting off the brake causes it to be jerky suddenly?
