Intake silencer removal

For those who removed their intake silencer and resonator, have you suffered lower mileage per gallon? I seem to be about 15-20 miles short of what i usually get when i had the silencer and resonator on.

My mileage has stayed the same or gotten better. I removed the resonator and put a 3-1/2 inch diameter tube from the grill opening (I enlarged the hole behind the grill) to a cut off resonator intake tube and into the airbox (cold and ram air). I cut off the stock intake tube at the resonator, so the 3-1/2 inch tube was slipped over that and sealed with RTV. You need to get cool air to the engine for improved economy. If you removed all the tubing, the airbox will get much of the hot air from the engine compartment and perfomance (and economy) may go down. However, I cannot run thru deep water with my setup (in case your area is prone to street flooding).

well when i did that set up a long time ago, i did suffer in terms of milleage also. but it wasn't because of the resonator delete, it was because my foot got heavier due to my need to hear it.
